I'm agirlofaith on my fitnesspal! :)

We've been making Soups with beans- like ham and Beans, split pea with ham... My husband has been blending them up and freezing 3oz servings for me for when surgery comes along!! I hope it's the first of February I want to be stocked up on things that are of good Protein and ready so I can be successful.

Glad you are here, can't wait to hear your story!!!

Hi everyone! So' date=' I'm a 30 something, single, female waiting to find out about insurance approval- my clinic said probably by Friday... I have diabetes and high cholesterol so I hope it'll go through. I'm anxious and nervous and worried lol I'm so ready to start and feel like I'm going thru some kind of "goodbye" to favorite foods. I've been researching and reading everything I can find. I feel confident this is right for me and think I'm ready to make those changes I need to... Just ready to stop waiting and go! Looking for a good support team- I want to do this right and use it as the tool that it is to becoming healthy... So just an intro... good to meet everyone :)[/quote']

Welcome! I am also new =] I can really identify with the parting ways with old food! I still have a few days before doing 2 weeks of liquid! Can't wait to go! And happy for this site/app!

When's your surgery date Teka? I go in 12/29 and start my liquid diet Saturday. Honestly I think it's going to be soooo hard, especially with Christmas coming too! I wonder if sugar free Jell-O shots count as liquid diet? ;) lolol

I am new as well! Start my liquid diet on Dec.21st with surgery scheduled for January 4, 2013....and i'm almost more worried about no solids than I am the actual surgery! There are so many different tales of woe here on the site..... I cant decide if I should be scared or excited! I would love to hear some actual ideas of what you eat/drink throughout your day!

What was your day like before the surgery on the liquid diet, and what is a typical day of meals for you now?

I'm extremely worried about how much I'm going to grieve for food. Thank you all for being here!

Lolol yes I think I'll have to have a last meal, but you know, I'm just not sure of what yet! It's getting close though!! 3 days till liquid diet. Omg I'm so nervous for that.

Vicki I'd love to know what someone's daily meal plan looks like too. Might be a good question for the postop boards.

Ibs I have diabetes and high cholesterol so I think sometimes I don't even recognize the way I feel isn't "good", it's been that way for so long. I'm really excited to feel good again.

Confession time- I eat so much at a setting I feel sick and horrible- and exhausted- after. I don't even know why I do it. So ready to say bye to that!

Oh actually I hadn't thought about it before, but google eggface. Her blog is something like "the world according to eggface" and she has a part called "a day in my pouch" that shows numerous days of meals she eats all the time. She's years out, but her food looks good!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
