discouraged after my first fill

Recommended Posts

Just had my first fill about a week and a half ago and feeling almost no restriction. He put in 2cc's and I am starting to feel very discouraged and down on this whole thing. I feel like I wasted my money. I feel like my body is ignoring this. I feel stupid for thinking this would work.

I have lost very little since having the surgery. When I left my surgery my chest was very tight but felt pretty normal after about a week or two. By the time I had my fill, I was able to eat normally as long as I chewed really well, including bread. I was told that was normal. But now- over a week out of my fill and not feeling tight or restricted I am starting to be filled with all of this insecurity and self doubt.

Anyone here feel almost no restriction after their first fill and were super slow to start losing? At what point did you finally start losing?

Did any of you feel super discouraged at this point or did everyone just start losing weight right off? Before my fill I only PB'd once.

My husband told me to come here and get some advice and support because I am so discouraged with all of this. I feel like I damaged my bod for nothing right now. I'm sure this will pass, but I feel like a freak and the only lap band patient who is not losing weight or feeling restricted.

Bleah.:cry

I'm having my 6th fill next Monday. The first couple really didn't change anything for me as far as how I felt. By the 4th one, I did feel restriction for a while, same with the 5th. It's just been in the last few weeks I haven't been feeling the same restriction, so back I'm going.

I think it's very normal to need more then 1-2 fills to really start getting the benefit of our bands. SO, yes it will pass. You sound very normal to me.

I would go in for another fill as soon as possible. It is normal not to feel restriction after your first fill. Don't feel bad. Good luck.

I recieved 1.25cc. with my first fill, and all I had to do was eat a little slower, and I could still eat all I wanted, with no restriction. So a month later I had my second fill, he only added .50, so I expected it to be a total waste of time and money---but, make that a big BUT...I got restriction with that little difference!! That was done last July, and I am still riding it along with good restriction.

First fills are seldom enough---I was shocked and surprised that 2 did it for me, I expected 3-4.

Hang in there---depression, even anger are perfectly normal. It is all part of a grieving process---and we truly ARE grieving the loss of our comfort in food as we knew it. Food took us through many things, happy, sad, painful, food was always there. Now we made a decision and lost that friend (who also made us obese!!). Going through all the emotions is normal---don't stress, you are not a failure, you just have a tool that is not working yet....you know a cordless drill with a dead battery---is still a cordless drill whether it works or not is another story---your fills will "charge your battery" and you will get going just like everyone else. Until then, hang out...vent....we have all been through it...we do feel your upset!!!

I felt nothing with my first fill, nothing with my second fill until 2 weeks out then BAMM! I have restriction. Not that I have a full sensation- but IF I Dont chew- its coming back up! I am now able to control my portions and do my part. I dont want to push how tight I am I dont want a slip.

As long as Im not starving- my fill level is good!

I just had my FOURTH fill yesterday, and the nurse said she was giving me an "aggressive" fill. I felt quite a bit restriction this morning which was GREAT; however, this afternoon I feel WIDE OPEN! It is very frustrating! She also wouldn't tell me how much I have, but I'm thinking I have to be up to almost 4 in a 4 band!! That's scary to me!! She said they didn't like to tell patients how much they have because we get on the net and start comparing. Oh well............ good thing I love them so much!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
