HELP!!!! Having a hard time on Pre-op diet!!
Oh I so remember having a hard time with the pre-op diet AND the first few weeks post-op. Taking it one day at a time is good advice, and I even literally had to think ONE HOUR at a time! I really like the Unjury chocolate protein powder mixed w/ skim milk. I blend it w/ ice in my smoothie maker sometimes, too. You can order it online, and it comes quickly. Good luck!

could really use some help please!
Oh my gosh, I posted a very similar thread just a little while ago. I was unfilled after an overfill b/c I was going out of the country and was having terrible reflux. During that time, my mother was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and passed away Dec. 17. I have gained 20 pounds, and I hate the thought of going in for a fill. How embarrassing!! I think we're taking a step in the right direction just getting on LapBand Talk. I'm already feeling a little encouraged. I'm going to try to go ahead and cut portions in half again and walk a little every day. Maybe little baby steps will help!!

Please talk some sense into me!
I was banded 08/06 and was doing fairly well. I was overfilled for several months and was going out of the country, so I got completely unfilled (June 08). Since then, my mother was diagnosed w/ breast cancer that had spread to her liver, and she passed away Dec. 17. During this dilemma, I have gained TWENTY POUNDS!! How could I have let this happen?? Now I am too humilated to go back to get filled again. Someone please help me!!!

Experienced Bandsters _PBing
My surgery was 11 months ago, I've had 5 fills, and I have only PB'ed one time. I scarfed down some trail mix kinda early in the morning, and back up it came. I made it to the bathroom that was filled with HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS! It was quite funny, but it didn't feel too good!

Foods
I suppose that my restriction is really the question....... I feel that maybe if I had the right restriction that I would NOT be able to eat certain things. After 5 fills, I would think that I would've reached my "sweet spot." My surgeon won't say how much fluid I have in my band, so I'm clueless there! They have all been performed under fluoro, so I am assuming the band is OK. I have learned A LOT of self-control as well. I NEVER EVER eat anything sweet anymore, and my taste for them is almost completely gone. It's awesome!

Can you ever drink through a straw again?
I've never had a problem drinking from a straw. Sorry, but in restaurants, I'm not about to put my mouth on the rim of a cup! Ugh!

Foods
Are there other Bandsters out there who can eat ANYTHING?? I'm approaching my 1 year bandiversary (Aug), and I've had 5 fills. I feel a little tight, but I can still eat absolutely ANYTHING..... thick crust pizza, burger with bun, sandwich with bread, rolls, shrimp....... you name it. Am I the only one? I've lost around 60 pounds, but it is very frustrating!

slipped band picture
OK, so I'm now terrified that I have a slip. I just returned from spending 2 weeks at the beach, and I think I overate every night. I have had 5 fills (my doc's staff refuse to tell how much of a fill I have), but I can still eat absolutely anything. I ate a lot of shrimp almost every night. I don't know what happened to me. I was just out of control. Now I'm having some pain, some tightness (which I never experience), and lots of nightime reflux. I'm trying to live on SlimFast for a few days to see what happens. Any advice????

gas pains in left shoulder
I remember reading something about a nerve (maybe called "vagus" nerve?) that is somehow linked to the area where our bands are located that causes referred pain in the left shoulder. That's why I'm here now.... to research it. I had a HORRIBLE episode with left shoulder pain today for about 3 hours. TOM is here, and I'm really reallly tight, so I think my scrambled egg got stuck.

Choking when I lie down.
I've been doing that lately as well, but I've quit drinking water or anything around 6:00. I get so thirsty, but it's what I have to do. After just reading Dr. C's post about that being a sign of slippage, I'm terrified!

slipped band picture
Dr. C, you're da bomb!! I keep hearing about pouch stretching..... does that contribute to a slip as well??

Doctor Says its a no-go - Any solutions?
Add me to the list! My doc fixed my hiatal hernia, and I haven't had ONE BOUT of reflux/heatburn since. It is AWESOME! Find another doc!

How has your life changed
Unfortunately, after 5 fills, I can STILL eat ANYTHING I want, and if I were to really try, I could still eat a lot; HOWEVER, I have an amazing control over my food intake now. I was an incredible sugar-consumer, and now I eat almost no sugar. I just don't want it like I used to. The lifestyle changes are amazing, and I'm SOOO much more confident. I'm hoping for a little more restriction with my next fill. I've lost 55 pounds, but I'm almost to my one year bandiversary, so I gotta get on the ball!!
