The Realize in the pic has nothing in it - the AP has some air at neutral pressure, probably equal to about 2 cc of saline would be my guess. The Realize does have those creases in it, but it's really designed for that and I don't see it as a problem. If you inflate it on a stick of clay or something like that it makes indents in the clay that look just like the pre-made creases in it. I'll see if I can find the time to inflate it on something similar to what a stomach would be.

If you are in the US you will likely have a lot of difficulty finding anyone to do fills for a Midband so watch out for that. Trace W. We find that patients get cold feet a lot, it's pretty normal, so I wouldn't stress over it. What you have to focus on is not the risk of surgery (which is minimal for gastric banding), but the risk of NOT having surgery, which is significant. The risk of doing nothing and facing complications related to obesity down the road doesn't seem as scary, but in reality it is. Good luck, you'll do fine! Trace W. Saturday, October 4th, 11AM - Evendale On Saturday, October 4th we will be having our fall clothing exchange. The system will be the same as the last time - you will get a ticket for each item you bring that will entitle you to take one item home with you for each ticket you have. This is always a fun-filled event that can save you some money on your clothing budget since our patients are shrinking on a daily basis! If you have nicer or new items that you would prefer to sell, that is an option. We just need you to bring a card table or something to display your items on, and also call the front desk at our office to let them know so they can give you all the details. We are providing the drinks and are asking patients to bring their favorite band-friendly snack for all to partake. This is always a well-attended event so feel free to bring a friend, patients from ALL surgeons are welcome! Paul, We probably do more low BMI bands than anyone in the country, and I can tell you that it's a great operation with very little risk. We frequently see patients get rid of hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea, and high cholesterol. Cumulatively these diseases certainly would have a higher risk of death than the operation itself. The only thing I would say is that you have to be mentally prepared for the rate of weight loss. It's not an overnight fix and low BMI band patients still lose their weight over a period of 12 to 18 months. So if you lose 50 lbs over 18 months, that's not a tremendous amount of weight on a weekly or monthly basis. That's ok though because we are looking for a solution that will last you for life, not one that is a quick, temporary fix! Trace W. The AP is a much better band than either the 4cc or the VG. It has 360 degrees of coverage, and the profile of the cuff itself is significantly taller giving greater surface area contact with the stomach. You can only get it in the US I believe. Even though my wife has a 4cc band and has done very well with it, I wouldn't put either a 4cc band or a VG in now because I feel the AP is so much better. Trace W. I have heard of this happening quite a few times actually. It's easier to do than one might think. Trace W. Actually the SRC reviews both the hospital and the doctor's office. Either can pass, either can fail, or one can pass and the other fail. SRC issues a Certificate of Excellence to the hospital, the physician, and the physician's practice. So I have two COE certificates, one for my name and one for my practice's name. Trace W. I think all surgeons who are experienced with the lap band have had some port leaks, it is a recognized complication. You should be able to get back on track when the leak is fixed, there is no way to be successful with a band that is leaking it's like trying to drive on a flat tire! Trace W. Dear Ohio surgical weight loss patients: We are opening an exciting new fitness and nutrition center that is dedicated to surgical weight loss patients called the Metabolic Fast Track Weight Loss Center. This place has been designed from the ground up with band, bypass, and sleeve patients in mind. There is specialized toning equipment there to help with excess skin issues, and assisted exercise devices for patients who have too much joint pain to do most types of exercise. This place is much more than a gym though, it's an intensive program designed for surgical weight loss patients that last for 12 months and is overseen by an RN and a registered dietitian.
