How long did it take u to recover and not be in pain from surgery.. I can only take a week off for surgery so I'm hoping it'll be enough.. I'm a hygienist so it's not too much lifting or moving around..

you should be ok. unfortunately i got pneumonia and Fluid in my lung after surgery which can happen sometimes. so im technically just now starting to feel better. i had to spend two week long stays in the hospital for it. but i can say the pain from the actually surgery was def gone after a week. the pneumonia was more painful :(

make sure u can take more time off if u need to. its a pretty invasive surgery and you will def be uncomfortable.

Yeah that's not fun.. I'm glad youre doing well with it tho, it's encouraging.. How was it transitioning from real food to liquids/purée?

im never hungry. i have to literally force myself to eat. its tough the first few weeks cuz u need to get your liquids and Protein in and you wont want to lol.

We're you a "grazer" before? Not sure if it's used in other programs but my nutritionist said its someone that picks in between meals and eats from boredom.. Which is me now lol I can't wait to just get this over with tho! Every appt is one step closer but then I have a ton more! Agh!! Lol

yes i ate just because i could. and i was big on comfort foods like mac n cheese. i dont miss it :)

Pre-op testing all done....and I asked about a pre-op diet and I was told they didn't have one. I found that really weird. Heck I had one for my lapband and that wasn't as an invasive surgery. The PA told me where she came from had them and she's pushing to do the same with this hospital. I sort of agree with her, seems to me at least 4 days prior to surgery we should be really cutting back to keep the pipes clean :)....I think I'm going to stick with liquids for at least 2-4 days prior. Seems to me it would help.

I'm so nervous....excited......all rolled together.

Law I may take you up on the help. Thank you for the offer. Its great to come here and know there are others out there who have gone through the process and willing to answer any questions that come up.

I'm from Westport :) I'm having it done by dr colacchio at tobey in wareham' date=' I got the medical clearance I just need to finish my psych/nutri evals and the workshops.. How long do the work shops usually take?[/quote']

I went through Tobey too. Had surgery on 4/12. Workshops took three consecutive weeks.

losingit, i had the lapband 3 yrs ago. so i deff can relate to u. that was laproscopically done. my rny was not. the scar is about 4 in long. and i have another 2 in long one where they took out my port. they healed really nice. pain was gone in a week. but i still cant lie on my belly when i sleep.

The surgery went great! Surgery on a Thursday & I felt 100% by Monday. The nurse told me I'm not the norm. I can honestly say l have had no problems except the occasional constipation which is never fun.

This gives me so much hope!! I'm so scared but I'm really trying to not think about the actual surgery.. I'm just trying to think about the afterwards :)
