I'm 64, so health was a big reason. But also quality of life. There are too many things I

want to do and places I want to go and obesity was making it much more difficult and

much less fun!

I am morbidly obese, but surprisingly healthy. I don't know how many times I heard my doctor say something like, "I wish I could encourage you to lose weight for your health, but all your measures just look normal!" Like jandseakin said, a big part of my decision was quality of life. Also, I work as the marketing manager in a mid-size, but growing, business. I need to be able to interact with people without my obesity being an unwelcome issue or influence. So I guess you could say part of my decision for this is career growth.

Yes , I can tell you I feel as if I were 21 years of age again . I've lost 159 lbs in almost a year and so great full for this opportunity I had to get this surgery done . I had high blood pressure , high cholesterol and borderline diabetes . My father had his first heart attack at 45 and I'm 3 years away from that so I have taken precautionary measured . I used to take medication for my illness and since my surgery I have not taken a pill . I wish I had done this a long time ago .

Good luck !!

I got tired of being fat and invisible. I'm still young, and used to turn heads. I really miss that. Like the poster above, I am one of those 'healthy' fat ppl (no comorbs). So, although health was a good motivator for me, at first it was mostly vanity.

I have wanted this surgery for over five years but could not afford it. This year was the first time my insurance would cover it but not without a lot of jumping thru hoops and then some.

When I started, five years ago, I was just tired of the battle. I did not have the support of my family or friends.

By this year I was on three different prescription pills and was afraid to do anything cardio- 5 friends have died in the past year from cardiac arrest. I realized I needed to do something or I could be next.

I was sleeved 10 days ago and have not taken any Meds since the night before surgery. YAY!

I have a long way to go but I've taken the hardest step in the journey-now to recover and become healthy!!!

I wanted surgery because of too many medicL problems and the side effects of the meds prescribed for those illnesses.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
