You can get help at the Y if you are on disability. They're all about helping people get in if they want to get in. Especially if you need help. Worth checking into. I found Gold's (Vent), Best Fitness, and some others to be full of muscle heads and bimbos. I suppose it depends on what time you go. The pool at the Y is awesome.

My pic update... Seven weeks out.

Sorry guys. I've been super busy. Work has been crazy. I've been so tired. I am down 22lbs today, got cleared today to start real food and have no restrictions so I'm excited for that. I just really wish I had more energy.

Where is vent fitness in Latham? I go to planet fitness in Rotterdam if you ever want a gym buddy. I can bring a friend but I also work 230-11 so my schedule kind of sucks. Everyone is looking amazing tho. I'm jealous of you all! Awesome jobs!

The Vent Fitness is next to the KMart in Lathem. $9.99 a month, no start up fee, no contract so figured I would give it a shot. I've tried Planet Fitness before and surprisingly coming from a gay man I found the locker room very 'uncomfortable' and way to 'friendly'. Need I say more? I was pretty grossed out so I called it quits. Lol. Must feel good to be free with no restrictions!?! I remember when they lifted my food restrictions and I tasted normal food. It was exciting but not as much as I thought. Thought I would have missed food, but don't. Lol. Glad your doing well and great job on the weight loss! Remember to eat slow and chew really well. If your chest feels heavy, or like something is stuck tilt your head down, chin pressed against chest and just leave it there for a min or two. Keep up the great work!

I also found out my surgeon used a 32 French bougie might have spelt that wrong. But I guess that is the smallest it goes. So that's neat

What the hell is that? Is that like the incision thingy majingy? Lol. I had laprascopic robotic so mine are not noticable. What did you have Jules and BrickHouse?

Lol. Its a tube they insert into your mouth then stomach during surgery. It allows the surgeon to have a guide i guess you can say for making your new stomach. The 32 in the smallest. I had my surgery laparoscopicly. I wanted nothing to do with the robot thing. And with them removing my lap band I dont think they could have.

Also im surprised about how u felt at planet fitness. I havent been to the one you mentioned but man some of the greatest times at the gym for me was going there in Pennsylvania with my gay friends and we'd rock out on the treadmills for hrs just talking. I dont think they ever had an issue but who knows. You cant change stupid I guess

I had RNY, so no bougie. Also laproscopic.

I used to go to Planet Fitness, too. I liked it. I loved that I could grab a tan and that they had so many Arc Trainers. A family member of mine had an odd experience in the men's locker room, too. He's straight as they come, and was uncomfortable with some overly-friendly, naked guys! I used to change in the little area outside the showers. I went at a quiet time, so there wasn't a lot of activity in the locker rooms.

I have the oddest dilemma. I had an infection in one of my incisions a couple weeks after my surgery and developed a nasty abscess. I had to pack it with gauze twice a day for 2 1/2 weeks. Once it was healed inside enough, we let it close up. The other day, I noticed the last of the scab was coming off in the shower. I pulled it off with some tissue and there was a string from the gauze inside it! So I have a string sticking out of my scar! I can't pull it out. It's really in there. I suppose I should call the doctor's office about it. I swear these things only happen to me!!

Brickhouse my belly button incision started oozing a clear liquid yesterday. I think I had a pimple or something on my incision where in internal suture was starting to poke out. I freaked out but today its much better so im with ya with weirdness lol

My belly button incision got infected a few weeks after surgery and I had to go to hospital, where they put me on IV, told me about 'packing and cut it to drain it. After packing it for a couple days I realized the same thing and freaked. Gave it some time with try to pull it and I was SOL I thought. Few days later took a nice warm bubble bath and soaked, and pulled the little guy out lol.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
