Spent 6 days on a ranch with no cell or wifi, walked 2 miles a day, a lot of uphill and stuck to my post op diet. Lost 0 lbs..... Frustrated, but trudging onward.

hang in there! It sounds like the dreaded third week stall. I actually didn't stall at that point. I'm going through a stall right now that has lasted over two weeks. The scale will move again!

I had a stall that started day 1 of my third week post-op. Scale didn't budge for 14 days. It's finally moving again!

Doctor gave me the ok to do some easy walking now so I'm jumping in. Did 1.3 miles this morning, nice and slow. I'll be happy if I can get 20 miles by the end of the month.

I just can't let y'all have all the fun.

20.5 mile bike ride in the gorgeous october weather! Must have been feeling the urge for some civil disobedience cuz I rode on the Schuylkill River trail which skirts the edge of Valley Forge Park, currently closed due to the government shut down. However the trail was open so I guess it's considered PA's responsibility and not the Feds. Bummer, was really hoping to stage a protest! NOT! Everyone is doing so great! Oh yeah, that puts my total at 60.1.

Okay, apparently the batteries are low on my scale, I went for my official weigh in at the dr today, 6.5 lbs for a total of 39.8 for my first month. I Guess all the walking at the ranch last week paid off. :) Now I can start the gym and bicycling, super excited.

Another great day! Started off with a 4 mile ride before work this morning then walked 2.71 miles today and I just finished a 7 mile ride on the recumbent bike. I think 7 miles is my best so far. So now I stand at 74.5 miles for the month! Feeling great!

+ 1600 m run ( 1 mile)

Invictus workout today.

40 pull-ups

30 hand stand push-ups

20 s n a t c h e s @ 125 #

30 hand stand push ups

40 pull ups

14.53 m

Extra credit

+ 3000 m row (about 2 miles) - 8 m

More blisters to heal. :) kipping the pull ups, but they are still hard.

Good strong workout yesterday too:

1600 m run (1 mile)

200m Row

15 Burpees

20 Back Squats 225#/155#

25 Kettlebell Swings 53#/35#

30 Wall Balls 20#/14# to 10’ target

25 Kettlebell Swings 53#/35#

20 Back Squats 225#/155#

15 Burpees

200m Row

15.25 m

The workout yesterday is the start of a 1 month nutritional challenge at box. Person who loses the most weight and shows the most improvement in time takes home the pot. Everyone contributed 10 to participate. About 50 entered so 500 pot. yay!! I won't lose a lot of weight, but I am going to strive for workout improvements. I want to get better at double unders, kipping pull-ups and rebound box jumps. We will be checking this same workout in 1 month.

Hit 120 m for October today.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
