No miles today, but I did have a good workout.

500 m row

3 sets of 5 Romanian deadlifts @ 315 #

WOD

"The chief"

Against a three-minute running clock, complete as many reps as possible of:

3 Power Cleans 135#/95#

6 Push-Ups

9 Air Squats

Repeat for a total of five sets, resting 60 seconds between sets. Pick up each set where you left off when the last ended.

My results : 361 total reps

Good sweat. Felt like a Fran.

Tomorrow is a rest day so no miles. Nada. Going to kick my feet up and cheer y'all on.

Forced myself out to walk 1.5 miles today. Hurting but hey' date=' I'm now to 36.2 miles.[/quote']

In case butter thinks 100 is too easy and ups the goal for next month or something, let me check in with 2 additional miles today putting me at a measly 38.2 miles now. Yes I do think I will make my original 40 mile goal :)

Walked another 1.5 miles this morning. I could tell that was right on the limit of my endurance at the moment. Total so far is 3.9 miles.

You're already cleared to walk? For some reason I thought it would be longer before that would be okay.

How do you feel physically after this amount of endurance competition?

I had absolutely nothing left in the tank about 1.5 miles from the finish and collapsed. If they had helped me, it wouldn't have counted so a woman came out from the crowd and started yelling at me to get up with a Philippino accent . It actually made me laugh and she said "Good. Now go finish." I managed to chuckle the rest of way in just thinking about it. It took my mind off of it, that's for sure. I got some IV fluids and a massage at the end before I went back to the hotel. Funny thing was that I couldn't really sleep long and I was back up only a few hours later. I was kind of in a state of delirium. I didn't want to do anything but feel what I had accomplished. It's something no one can take away from me. I'm actually thinking of getting a tattoo as a reminder of the event (mind you I'll be 60 in a few years and never thought of getting one before, so that is pretty funny to those near to me).

Cleared for EASY walking. Frankly that 1.5 miles was a bit too much. I should have kept it to a mile. Today I will. Heck I may even call today a rest day. I don't have much energy but I'm also tired of sitting around already. The restlessness is the hardest part for me. Running 140 miles last month didn't burn me out on running like I hoped it would. And now the weather is taking a very good turn and that makes me wanna get out even more. Gotta. Be. Patient.

Been a slow week - had the flu, which really kicked my butt. Haven't been able to do much this week, so I'm only at 24.9 miles (I know, if I'd realized I was that close I would have kept going to get an even 25, but c'est la vie).

Only able to crank out 50 squats since Monday, so as of yesterday my total is 1350.

Good news is I lost 2 lbs and I'm only 1.5 from halfway, so at least that's something...

Wow incredible! I'm glad you are ok.

I'm up over 100 for now. I don't have my phone in front of me (that is where I keep track) but I think it was 101.4. I will go with that for now. But remember my goal isn't 100, it's 150 which is up almost 30 miles from last month (Sept. I hit about 121 miles.)

Hi all! I love everyone's posts...I'm battling a cold right now. I haven't been sick in the longest time! ugh... So, I took a break on Wednesday and yesterday I got 5.07 in on my bike. My total for the month is now at 63.77. I have 61.23 to go for my 125 mile goal! Looks like minimum of 5 miles/day for me! Keep up the good work everyone!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
