Well, I am pre-op...so we shall see how my little stunts will bode for me post-op.

Day one of the liquid diet, I was GREAT. Until 7pm, I couldn't take another minute and dragged my boyfriend to the nearest Thai restaurant where we split multiple appetizers and Entrees - I feasted on fried crab rangoons, chicken sauté with peanut sauce, pad thai with tofu, pot roast beef Massuman curry, and orange chicken. It was so divine, it nearly carried me through the entire next day. Until I had carne asada smothered in cheese and guacamole. With salsa. And a few chips. *UGH* IT WAS HEAVENLY.

But alas, my inner food beast has quelled it's rage and I have stuck to the dreaded four Protein shake a day diet since. TBD for post op. It's not if I cheat, it's when. But I certainly won't beat myself up about it. I'm no ingrate and plan on doing my damndest to lose the weight - so fear not. But I am a mere mortal after all and expect I will behave like one.

Dudes! I am so very proud of you all. But really? 'I ate some ice cream'. 'I ate some cheese goo on a cracker'. Damn, I was wanting to see 'Yeah, you know, I went to Crystals and ate 25 of their cheeseburgers. I washed this down with a large coke (through a straw), large fries and had apple pie for dessert'. You lot are positively saintly!!!! :) x

Love this thread.

My confession: first week back at work I had to go on a business trip. I was booked into a Doubletree and before I realized what was happening they had thrust a warm chocolate chip cookie in my hand. I went straight to my room and ate it slowly and secretly! Worth every bite--but I don't stay at Doubletrees anymore!

I went to a carnival with my kids and had fried Oreos on Tuesday. Then I had double chocolate brownie Italian ice on Tuesday. Two totally wasted days in my loss phase. But they were delicious.

My dirty little secret is this:

I will sometimes take bites of stuff like buttered pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, and other nefarious foods. Then I chew the crap out of it and enjoy the taste and mouth feel. I then spit it into a napkin or paper towel and throw it away. I don't do this anywhere but in private, and it satisfies the craving for taste and texture without hurting my stomach.

I also drink diet soda with a straw. I started using a straw at 5 days post-op after ending up in the ER with dehydration. It's the only way I can drink fluids without getting overwhelmed and gulping.

My dirty little secret........struggle coming to terms with job stress.

It leads over into every aspect of my life.

I have caught myself stress eating at work......junk food Snacks.

I have caught myself drinking too much on days off.

I finally....acknowledged how both are empty ways of dealing with the stress.

Instead......I'll sneak into the gym at work and burst off a quick few sets and feel better for it. Days off I'll be active doing something outdoors.....lately paddling around the river or walking outdoors. Stress is mitigated in healthy ways.

Madam, now that time has passed do you have any other good "cheats" to add?

Dear Jessica,

Sadly not.

After the honeymoon period, it is so very easy for the weight to come back on. I'm not joking.

You HAVE to give it your best whilst the going is good...

The core advice I'd give is...

If you're a carb addict (like me) - NEVER go back to eating bread products. That way lies the devil.

Actually, sod it, whatever your thing was before.. It so shall be after - because it used to be your friend. Everyone has to accept that. It is also easy to swap one 'friend' for another. Usually booze...

It's hard. I'm back to having to be very cognisant of what I'm putting in my mouth now.. very...

Your stomach WILL STRETCH.

Oh, and I've found that i'm hungry every 2.5 hours - which can lead to EASILY maxing out on 2000 + calories.

It's not a miracle, it's a tool - as everyone has said. I'm still trying to master mine... Not very successfully after having put on 22lbs.

Maybe I should put down the glass of wine ;) x

While I was on the pre-op diet I had a Taco Bell feast. By the time I had it I had already lost 20 lbs on the liquid diet. I really go down. It was the only time that I ate during that two week period. I think I had three or four days before surgery when I had this meal. On the day of surgery I had lost even more weight. Before anyone talks about the meat at Taco Bell and how it gives you the runs I do not eat meat and everything I had did not contain any beef.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
