I crave salt so bad that this morning, I sprinkled salt on a plate and licked it off. Really, how insane is that?!

Uh I ate straight salt from my palm more than once post op before I could eat much. Love my salt!

I chew gum but if I had to pick the worst thing I did was last night. I ate one of those tiny things of ice cream that had like 2oz of ice cream in it and a few banana nut crackers with cream cheese on them. Unfortunately they were complete sliders and created absolutely no ill effect which in turn created more guilt. Not worth it, but I put them in My Fitness Pal and had to face the calorie overload.

During purée stage, I made tacos for the kids' dinner and decided to try it. meat, cheese and sour cream blended nicely.

On vacation, I had a beignet.

I chew gum ALOT.

I have a glass of Cheerwine (a regional soda) and a slice of pizza on Tuesday nights (not every, but occasionally). I can eat the crust, use a straw and soda is not flat or diet. It's the only place in town it's on tap, so it's a special treat.

Sleeve o' Steel here, but I behave at home usually.

Too bad I'm boarding a cruise ship in the morning! Thank goodness I don't like chocolate!

I self adjusted my post-op diet....I ended up doing Clear Liquids for half week....full liquids for half... then pureed lasted about 4 days....I ended up doing really soft well chewed stuff but still foods....and i had no problems with it. Now... I eat what I want mostly...I do Protein first....and am mostly getting it all in. still I feel guilty....but I only can do a couple tbs at a time and eating 3x per day. Hard to sabotage that. I'm 31 lbs down.... and sporting my sleeve. Oh and fro-yo is pretty good as a treat... but not often.

Oh you guys, all these confessions are music to my ears. Please lets keep this thread beat-down free?!

Today I ate a mojo bar, a luna bar and the chicken from a Lean Cuisine noodle dish. Then I sat in the recliner and read all day. In my defense, a 90-minute karate class nearly killed me last night and I think I broke a toe.

I must be the cheater of all time on here, it could have been 2 weeks after surgery that I had some chips, but probably was more like four days. Well I'm like 6 weeks out, down 34lbs. Hello, my name is Colette, and I'm a CHEATER. Every frikin day!! Its HARD, I really don't think there is a person on this forum that hasn't cheated. I think its all part of the game, its a frikin rollercoaster everyday.

Cheers,

Colette

Ooh' date=' here's another good one: I was told to never chew gum again. But like 5 days after surgery, I totally got some gum and chewed it anyways. Oh yea, I was a rebel.[/quote']

Speaking of gum, I brought back 10 packages of my fav gum from Mexico, I have 3 left

****! I'm just dieting before surgery on Nov 4th; not even on my pre-op diet yet and already today I fell of the wagon face first into McfuckingDonald's fries. I'm screwed! This tread is hilarious! Can't wait till I have my VSG' date=' I'll probably use a Snickers as a suppository. God forbid if I get a craving during PMS week. I have lost 11 lbs in two weeks.[/quote']

I just laughed so loud at ur response, lol, and I pushed out a fart, yup, I said it!

Wondering if this is a serious thread of not but here goes:

I drink a lot of alcohol in one sitting.

I don't exercise (my skin looks pretty okay)

I am beginning to feel my bulimia rear it's ugly head again and consume my life.

I'm scared to confess this to my doctor and get actual help so I pretend like everything is okay when it's not

I ate chocolate and potato chips anf OJ while on vacation one month postop . I had to be sneaky about it since all my travel mates knew I had surgery.

Funny thing is, I haven't wanted to that again (and haven't touched a chip since).

Dont you know we are not supposed to use straws!! They will blow up your tummy!!

We can never, for the rest of our lives use a straw? That's crazy and sad.

Dudes! I am so very proud of you all. But really? 'I ate some ice cream'. 'I ate some cheese goo on a cracker'. Damn, I was wanting to see 'Yeah, you know, I went to Crystals and ate 25 of their cheeseburgers. I washed this down with a large coke (through a straw), large fries and had apple pie for dessert'. You lot are positively saintly!!!! :) x

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
