Oh i miss you, Mr Caffeine

Recommended Posts

Part of my MD's pre surgery plan was to wean off of caffeine ... It was a slow wean, but I'm officially caffeine free now. I miss those Starbucks Caffeine highs :(

I feel ya....I've been caffeine free but got crystal lite and didn't realize it had caffeine (it says 98% caffeine free) and I was wondering why it gave me energy... LOL

But soon your body will adapt!

I also loved Starbucks every morning for many years, but remember how many calories those drinks have. I have been off caffeine for roughly 2 months. I might stay off of caffeine because I know it might be a trigger for me.

No one ever said anything to me about caffeine..hmmm....I don't drink coffee at all..they said I have to give up the diet coke because of the carbonation & expanding the belly...I still have caffeine....I drink those little squeeze liquid enhancers...I squit it into my water...its called Energy with 60 mgs per serving..keeps me going...& no bloat..

I was told to give up caffeine before surgery, and that I could introduce it back into my diet about a month post-op. I was told to absolutely give up soda/carbonation for good. I did that, a little slow to give up on the caffeine though. I figure, I quit smoking and gave up soda, one thing at a time here lol....

my caffeine detox was like an exorcism. I was off cold turkey for 10 days (3 monsters a day for 5 years), bc I needed to break the cycle. (mostly to prove I could do it). I was completely caffeine free for the 10 days. I have started having a small half caff in the am. i need it for work mornings while i'm still so far out. I will go off completely when i'm about 2 or 3 weeks out from surgery, and stay off as long as I have to. I will reincorporate it as soon as I get the all clear. I cannot live without caffeine.

I would have to think hard (or maybe just go back and check my other entries) I can'trecall when coffee crept back in, but its in! (at least into the second month) I try to limit it, some days are more successful than others.

I was told to reduce my caffeine to one cup after surgery, but need to give up carbonated drinks for good. I am still working on that, might just need to go cold turkey.

My Nut said I could have coffee right after surgery, just need to watch the temperature because that could bother the sleeve.

Wait...what?!? Crystal Light has caffeine in it??? I'll have to look at my box when I get home because I too thought I had been caffeine free for the last month.

I quit caffiene about 6 weeks and I kept some around (like a bottle of diet coke), so when the headache hit I would take a swig and tylenol. Like an alcoholic needing "hair of the dog". It took about a week. I swapped over to caffiene free diet coke and kept cutting back and finally quit the carbonated beverages 8 days ago... I think it would have been easier giving up "crack" or something like it, I had this need for it. I quit smoking 5 1/2 years ago and I think giving up the carbonated beverages was harder for me. I was drinking probably 6 - 8 Diet Cokes a day. I feel like my appetite has lessened, just a tad... not enough to call off surgery, but enough to leave food on a plate.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
