liver reduction diet

Recommended Posts

so tomorrow i start my three week liver reduction diet. as per my surgeon it's 2 Protein Shakes (one for Breakfast, one for dinner) and a lunch consisting of lean meat and non-starchy vegetables. I know myself, and I'm probably going to either get sick of the veggies and meat or won't have enough time to prepare it and want a Protein Shake. do you think it would be okay to either drink 3 Protein shakes instead, or put the meal as dinner? i'm going to my nut on monday and i'll ask, but until then i wanted to know what you guys thought? or should i strictly follow what she said?

I followed my diet exactly for about the 1st week, but then it became too hard to keep up with in the order that they wanted (shake for breakfast, shake for lunch with oatmeal, etc etc) so I still stuck to the menu but switched up the times to better suit me and I actually lost more the second week!

I have known of sleeved patients drinking full liquids which would be Protein Shakes for 2 whole weeks and just be fine. I think they add a 3rd week just to be sure everything ges fine in your surgery. Don't stress when I had my surgery my surgeon told my wife my diet was excellent and I even altered my pre op diet. That last week is going to be teh hardest when you have a 3 week. I only had a 2 week. I lost 32 lbs on my pre op diet and a lot of my meals were Protein shakes, I was kind sick of food the texture was diifferent.

i'm really worried about the times because i have a weird sleep schedule because i work nights. i don't wake up until 11, so my breakfast is really at noon. my lunch is at work, when they're having dinner, and then i eat again at like 9-10pm. that's what i was worried about. thank you!

I got tired of the Protein Shakes before the food. I looked forward to dinner because I got to chew something! I mixed up the veggie and meat combo to keep it interesting. I stuck to the diet without cheating and lost 28 lbs in 2.5 weeks!

Mine is very similar except my diet is Protein Shakes for breakfast/lunch then the lean Protein & non starchy veggies for dinner. I look SO forward to eating real food, it tastes so good!!! I've struggled with a horrible detox headache. Tomorrow is day 4, I'm hoping it gets better soon!

that is wonderful to hear! especially because i need to lose 20-25lbs before surgery and i've only lost 14. i'm glad to hear it was worth it! and i definitely do not plan on cheating.

i've been substituting one meal a day for a protein shake, sometimes another with a Protein Bar. i find they fill me up really well, which i wasn't expecting. i hope it gets better for you! and i hope i don't get headaches! :(

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
