Today is my first day back to work (12 days out) and over the weekend I started noticing some of what I think is incisional pain. Think it was from pushing grocery cart (think twists and turns) and I tweaked something. It's not horrible, but how many days til it goes away? How do I know it's not a hernia? Luckily work is sedentary and it's a quiet week, but I think I gotta take it easier at home. I'm hoping since I started Protein (with a simultaneous stop in BMs) ill heal faster? Thanks for any help!

I wouldn't lift/push/pull anything over 10lbs until your surgeon OK's it! You are still in a crucial healing stage and def need to take it easy. You had a major surgery! If it is incision pain, then it could just mean that it is healing (itching is also a sign). You may have just overused muscle that is weak. I say if it doesn't subside some by Friday/Saturday, then you need to go see your PCP. You may also want to just advise your surgeon of your pain.

Protein will aide in healing, but yes, you need to take it easy at home. If you have ppl to help you - use them! :)

I had the same issue and was very scared about the same things. I called my bariatric doctor and he said that it was the one stitch that is internal was dissolving, so my stomach was moving a bit and this caused pain. I also did too much and would pay for it with the pain inside (like a pulled muscle). I was very cautious and called my doctor a lot, just because I needed that reassurance! Call your doctor and just tell them your symptoms and they will be able to answer all of your questions, but I am guessing that you are experiencing the same thing that I did. Good luck!

Hi,

I know what you mean.. I'm about three weeks out and had that feeling in my second to third week. I was thinking I had a hernia being that I felt a lump under all the incisions. About a week later the lumps shrank and are pretty much not there. Its just the incisions healing and sutures they use.

Just dont lift or push anything heavy :)

Thanks for the responses! I'm gonna take it down a notch. Will probably have to empty my purse, that sucker probably weighs 10 lbs all on its own!

HA, I weighed my purse before my surgery, it came in at over 11 pounds! What I put in my mouth is not the only thing that needs to be reduced!

I had the horrible pain (pulling, burning, and intense) you describe at about 10 days out. (I had to help my old golden retriever get in and out of the car & had to bend and lift to do it!) My surgeon said it was the deep stitch an it would resolve by 28days Post-op. I didn't believe him as I thought I over-did it. Thankfully, I woke up on day 26 and the pain was instantly gone. Hope you have the same !

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
