Hugs to all. I was sleeved in the 27th. Physically great! Mentally and emotionally a freaking mess. Cried today when I watch the Long Island medium eat pizza on her show - thinking I want to eat that whole pie.

Oh wow, I was told I can have any pureed fruit or veggie except stringy ones, like celery, anything that wont puree well. That could be why veggies arent going down so well lol.

I completely understand, I wish I would have known how bad the mental aspect of the surgery is. That way I could have been better prepared.

They said we can have cooked veggies or the little fruit cups that are in Water or its own juice.

I had lap band to sleeve on August 21, and I am so hungry, like most of you and sick of all the sweet! I broke down and had a soft scamled egg and had no issues and felt much better after some real Protein. I have not lost any weight yet and its been 11 days!! I walk everyday. liquids go down without any trouble. Any suggestions???

I would be calling the doctor, and saying I want a refund, lol. Just kidding...but really you haven't lost anything? If your drinking Protein Shakes then that should be ok? I have been losing about a pound a day- it's been 14 days and I have lost 13lbs so far. I too have 1/2 an egg to get some real protein. I am so sick of Protein Drinks. Ugh! Bring on the Food! I hope you start to loose soon!!!!

Awe...don't cry. It's just a pizza is what I tell myself, and it probably isn't as good as the ones you can make. Besides, think of all the calories, yuck, we are not working hard for nothing! Come on you can do it! You just think your hungry, I stop before I take a drink and think....am I really hungry, no. Then when my Protein Shake is down, I don't really feel full...but about the same....so I am not hungry like I think I am most of the time. But I have to remind myself to eat and drink just to stay hydrated and keep Proteins in me. You'll do better with time....keep up the great work!

Hi there! I was sleeved on Aug. 22' date=' home on Aug. 23. I am doing about like you. I am hungry for "real" food. I am getting my Protein and liquids in. I'm really sore (in fact, on Day 3, this is probably my most sore day). I am very mobile. I just showered, put on makeup and am getting ready for a birthday party. I'm sure I'll be exhausted afterwards. Yesterday, I slept all day. Literally ever four hours would get up and drink and then go right back to bed. I am not shorting myself on the pain meds. I figure they were prescribed and I'm going to take them. In terms of what else to eat, I just had some Greek yogurt and it was AMAZING. It was a little too sweet for me (which is hilarious because I love sweet stuff). I'm going to try the unflavored next.

So far, no BM. I'm trying not to worry yet. I do belch quite a bit.

thanks for the post - nice to have some comparisons!

Best,

Angela[/quote']

With the pain meds it backs up the bms my doc had me take a stool softener 2 a day for 3 days and hello... as for food I was told to do "recreational eating" (chew and spit out) your mouth wants it.... what's funny is after you chew it up really good you really don't want it anymore! And I totally hear you on sweets I can believe my palette has changed so much! I do plain 1/2 cup fage yogurt with about a tbs of honey and cinnamon, I just can't wait to add fresh fruit....

One thing I wanted to share from my postoperative appt today is - I asked if I can combine mush phase with full liquids since I'm drinking strained cream Soups. My doc said no and it has nothing to do with stretching my stomach. It has to do with any part of the sleeve stretching and a staple popping. Just wanted to let you know what I learned.

Well, I had my first follow up today, and it was great! My BMI is down 4 points! And I am on to mooshy foods....I told the doctor I am dying for veggies and real fruit and he said to go for it, just mash them up! So I am all over that. But still need to get my Protein in. Water consumption is the hardest thing for me, but I am working on that. I also got the go ahead to get back to the gym as long as I wait to work on my upper torso until I hit 6 weeks! So all and all, I had a great check up. I absolutely love my doctor and his staff,....I wish everyone could go to him! They all are sooo great!

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
