I am not saying you should do this but our surgeons instructions said when we were getting in 64 oz of Water daily, after 10 days, we could have Decaf coffee.

Well this is the ONLY area where I have disobeyed him. I waited the 10 days. I drink the 64 oz. i started with decaf. But on day 12 i moved to caffeine. I am a bad girl!

I drink chike coffee Protein shakes now every morning. I did feel sick the first time I tried it but got over it rather quickly. I limit myself to just that morning injection of caffeine.

I don't recommend doing what I did. I'd order the chike decaf instead. In my defense, that is what I THOUGHT I'd ordered but the pack arrived and it was caffeinated and I was too impatient to wait to order another jar, etc. Excuses excuses.

Shame on me too. I couldn't stand the smell or taste of coffee at first. I'm on my second brand and still don't like it. I manage to get down 1/2 cup but will have to try ...maybe free tea!?!

I tried a cup (decaf I don't do cafe even pre-op) and it made me feel dehydrated. So I've given up coffee forever. Pre-op I did like the Decaf Click but can't do them now.

However, I have renewed my love of chai tea. I can do those daily if I'm not careful.

So I hope you don't mind me sharing a family joke here. Chai means tea. So when my kids used to talk about chai tea, I used to tell them they just said tee tee! They're boys. They found it quite amusing.

And I snuck in a little cultural learning and ensured they didn't sound like complete "foreigners" when I took them back to India :)

I was missing my coffee, too, so I decided to incorporate it into my morning shake. I use instant espresso crystals (usually Pilon or Cafe Bustelo), about a Tbsp or so. I stick that in a Blender Bottle, add just a little hot Water & swish it around til it dissolves. I add about 1/2 cup of plain nonfat greek yogurt, 1 scoop of either vanilla or chocolate Syntrax Nectar Protein Powder & about a cup of skim milk. Shake it all up & I'm good to go. It's 250 cals, 45g Protein, 18g carbs, 0g fat, and it's delish!

As with so many things the instructions on this very widely between surgeons. Personally I was aloud to have coffee in the hospital the morning after surgery. I have since probably drank at least 1 cup everyday since, some days much more. The only thing I am extremely careful about it is that since coffee is a natural diuretic I made sure to increase my Water intake to make up for the coffee so as to not be prone to dehydration. Good Luck.

I followed my nutritionist's instructions and didn't have even Decaf coffee for the first couple of weeks post-op...then she said I could move on to decaf, which I did for a few more weeks...by the time I was 2 months post-op, I started back on regular coffee and have been drinking a few cups daily for the last month with no problems...if it had caused me any problems, such as acid reflux, I would have either tried going back to decaf or eliminated it altogether like I have carbonated drinks (even though my surgeon has no objections to them)

I just tried Decaf, not so bad, but one cup, MAYBE, gives me the coffee fix, and then I don't want anymore...so I began thinking, is it the coffee I miss or the half and half I put in it!!! LOL

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
