To those wondering "will this happen to me" ...

Yes. I was anxious and scare before surgery. Today I tried on size 10 jeans. I won't stop until size 5 jeans fit me. That is how I look hot.

I know, I know...shallow and superficial...but let me enjoy my moment. Let me associate the word "hot" next to my name. I need this.

Wow! You've given me hope. I started in 18 jeans too but I'm only 1 week post op. I bet you look hot in size 10 let alone 5! Congratulations!

I started in a size 18 jean too and I am 2 months post-op and I have lost 31 pounds but I am a size 14. I have hit a stall and have only lost 4 pounds this month. Very aggravated but I am exercising and seem to be losing inches. I am a person that does not like my clothes to touch or pinch me so I may be wearing my clothes a bit big. LOL

Not shallow and superficial at all... When you don't know what it feels like for so much of your life, it will just feel incredible to be happy when you can look in the mirror and smile. My surgery should happen in September or October and I get waves of excitement to think that things could change so much in several month's time. I plan on buying a full length mirror... Maybe two, haha!

I'm so scared that this will fail like all my other attempts. I'm so happy for you. Did you feel like I do?

It is so strange how sizes run. I have lost 75 pounds, but have only gone fom a 26 to a 24. (And some of the 26s still fit, and some of the 24s are still too small. One pair of 22 jeans fit.)

You'd think with that much weight loss, there would be a bigger change in sizes. I dream of the days when an 18 will fit!

I'm 45 years old. Eating about 600 to 700 calories a day, on a good day. Mostly Protein. Some day have been bad.

Don't get discouraged. Jeans sizes are weird. I have every size from 5 to 18 in my closet. The size 10 I put on has stretchy material. I tried on non-strech, the 10 didn't fit, the 12 did. I guess it depends on the make of the jeans.

My dress size is large now. 14. The 12s are still too tight on my back. I have wide back and small hips. When I was size 5 in high school they called me "surfing board".

Right now I have this favorite dress made out of jean material. The cut makes me have curves. I never, EVA had curves in my life. So I'm planing on wearing the dress every day from now on LOL

I think it's body type and sizing on different brands of jeans...

At least that's what I tell myself to feel better after reading these kinds of stories :D

I started at 275, size 22 eight months ago. For the most part I am very strict with my diet. I am down 97 lbs and 10s fit well. Maybe even loose. I went from 3xl scrubs to larges, and those are even huge. Good luck, and know that you can do this!

Well regardless of how long it took me to get into my size 10 skinny jeans, Im a happy camper and very happy for you! I share in your excitement! I love that I can shop in the junior section and grab a medium top and a 10 in pants as a norm. Then depending on the brand, I may have to go up. Only one time did I have to try a small on. I thought I was going to faint lol.

Bunny,

I have to agree with you on that!!

I just came home and took off my jeans size 10 with no stretch, it took me awhile to get here but it feels good. And juniors?? Hehehe..

I took my daughter shopping at Tillys last week and saw a sweater I liked, and all of a sudden it dawned on me, OMG! I can totally pick that up and try it on! I did, and I bought that sucker :P

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
