So I am one month out and have lost 29 lbs so far which I'm really happy about! I went to panera yesterday and ordered a Soup. When sake what side I wanted I said no side. So I went over to pick up my food and the guy says are you sure you don't want a side. I said yes I'd just throw it out anyway and that would be a waste. He said why? I said bc I had weight loss surgery. I'm not ashamed of it at all. Then he says to me I'm sorry to hear that. Wait, what????? I just left but I should've said it's the best thing I have ever done for myself!!! I'm so mad that I'm letting this bother me and the fact that I should've said I wasn't sorry at all!!!!! Sorry just venting!

People who have either not had a weight problem, or have yet to come to terms with it if the do, cannot understand. Weight loss surgery is not a failure, it is someone taking real control over an issue they have not controlled before. But it is still very much socially viewed as a failure or taking the easy way out. ( VERY far from that actually) Don't let his ignorance get you down. He would be the same type to judge you for being overweight probably. Damned if you do and damned if you don't!!!! Just Celebrate YOUR victory and let him go back to peddling his starchy shame....LOL

I also think he was only semi cordially listening ans just heard surgery and not what type. Typical counter help ;)

Agree with MIJourney & AntiBand.

I am not yet used to the strange looks and second guesses I get from waitstaff when I order an appetizer. But I shrug it off because the prevaling mentality in the food service industry is get what you pay for. I wouldn't take it personally. Be psyched about your success so far!!

I'm open about my surgery with people that matter but I would never have explained my "no sides" order with the staff. "Yes, I'm sure" would have been my only response. Of course, I don't think I need to be questioned about my order. I think I'm smart enough to know what I want and expect the waiters to just follow my instruction. I don't think he meant anything bad by it though.

He probably meant sorry about pushing the side on you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
