I had one while in the hospital, but it was removed prior to leaving the hospital.

Nope. Each surgeon is different. Each patient is different. :)

I also had one that was removed the day I left the hospital. Never heard that about bmi and drains. My bmi was 29 (band to sleeve revision) and I had a drain. Some people go home with it and have it out ina week or so. Glad they took mine out before leaving cuz my dr is 3 hrs from home and I'd hate to have to go back just for that.

Feels really "weird" when they pull it out. Almost like holding a strand of spaghetti and swallowing it, and then pulling it back up (yes, I've done this!). No pain, just about 10 seconds of really weird.

I had one for 2 days. But didn't bother me, just a little uncomfortable when dressing. But I put it in my panties, and wore a loose dress. They took it out when i was discharged. No problems.

I had my surgery Thursday and I left with a drain. I think I heard that my doctor sends all of his sleeve patients home on a drain. It's not been a big deal. I just have to empty it a couple of times a day and measure it. I'm supposed to get it out next week!

Good luck with your recovery!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
