There was a mistake my surgery date is 09/09 and not 9/11 as mentioned in my last post. Well ... I am really excited!! Today I had the pre op class. Just final talking about the surgery, got the RXs for the meds I will take after surgery...got the post op appointments (3 weeks) with my doctor, nutritionist, and physical activity specialist (7 weeks). Oh!! And today the nurse (from hospital) called for the pre surgery talk ... I guess that is about it!! Now, I have to work on the pre op diet and exercise. Whishing all goes well for my fellow sleevers :D

I am wondering how u guys r doing as far as the pre op diet. I am on a "30 days pre op diet";

· Two 8 oz. glasses of skim or soymilk milk, mixed with Protein Powder per day

· I can have three meals a day, which can include

o
½ cup of cottage cheese, non-fat ricotta cheese or non-fat, sugar free yogurt

o
2-3 oz. of Water packed tuna, salmon, lean chicken, turkey or tofu

o
Non-starchy vegies (raw, steamed, boiled or sautéed in 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil).

Since my doc requested a 5lbs weight loss prior to surgery, as during this first week I am taking the carbs away not all at once. Seems like 30 days on this diet would be too much. So here is what I am doing. No rice, bread, Pasta, Beans, potato, no starch. Lots of salad and Protein, some oat meal, Protein Bars and fruits in general. I am planning to reduce the carbs even more next week … and the last 2 weeks go on the diet 100%.

What do you guys think??

It sounds good. I couldn't do 30 days! As long as you wean yourself off carbs slowly, you should be good to go. Keep updating and keep yourself accounted for on here! If you slip, don't take it too hard on yourself. Just know what you did and learn from your mistake. You'll do great!

Do your best to follow the plan as written! I have a 6 week preop diet. It is considerably stricter. The diet is hard but it is good for you. Most oatmeal, protein bars, and fruit are high carb so I would skip it.

The doctor is the doctor for a reason. If we were good at making up our own rules and sticking to them, we would be in this situation.

Hi! My name is Jeanni. I live in Missouri, I'm getting my sleeve in Lenexa, Kansas September 5th, start my 2 week liquid diet (4 shakes a day and broth, sf Jello and sf Popsicles ) August 22nd. The liquid diet and excess skin is my biggest worries. The excess skin I can live with just would prefer not to have it. I am 30 and not sure if I am too "old" for my skin to bounce back like when I was younger. But excess skin is a very small price to pay for getting to a healthy weight so I'm not sure why it worries me so. I have substituted some shakes here and there to prepare for preop diet and just telling myself if I cheat on it I am only hurting myself. I wish you all luck!

Welcome! The excess skin thing is scary for me too. I am really fat (not a lightweight) so there is a lot of skin. Skin elasticity is so different for everyone but you are young so there is a better chance for it to snap back. Anyway, congrats on your date!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
