Any suggestions on what to pack and take with us for the surgery and stay in Tijuana?

I packed a light robe, comfy socks to walk around in, crystal lyte packets, bullion cubes to make broth (probably wont need them), and my trusty dusty journal. Oh, and my cashiers check. Lol. I will be there Wednesday morning. What about you?

I also have gas x strips on my list, listerine strips, slip on slippers and a zip up gown for comfort. I am going shopping with my list tomorrow. My surgery is Aug 4th and I am so excited to start packing!!

We have to fly in the day before the surgery because of arrival times, etc (coming from Boston) so we will check in on Tues at the hotel. Surgery Wednesday. Thx for the packing ideas.

In February, I took with me: pajamas with pants and top (elastic on jammies help hold the drain bag), comfortable elastic waist pants and loose fitting t-shirts, took Gas-X but didn't need it, brought my laptop for use at the hotel, cell phone, makeup. Marriott has hair dryers, etc. If you have a support person going with you, see if they will take a taxi to costco or Walmart after your surgery and get you some Gatorade G2 or Vitamin Water for you to drink when you are back at the hotel after surgery. That was WONDERFUL after surgery to taste something other than water. Take advantage of your time after surgery to sleep and rest as much as possible while at the Marriott. GOOD LUCK!

Ok, where do I begin? Picked up at 6:30am yesterday morning. Visited NUT, EKG, and blood work. Escorted to my room to put on compression socks and undress. Also got my IV put in. Had to put valium in power form under my tongue for anxiety GROSS!, Given a few other tiny cups of liquid meds. Dr. Ortiz came in, followed by Dr. So (handsome!). I met both of my nurses who took very good care of me. Then off to the OR. I was saying Our Father prayer and was out like a light. Woke up a little confused about where I was, but it seemed like I was only out for 5minutes tops. I was in my bed dozing off and on throughout the night. Ok, how do I describe how I feel? It feels kind of like the cramp you get when you run. Except it is not constant and in various places in your stomach where the incisions are. I just went to walk about 20 minutes round the hall here in he hotel. It is beautiful by the way. I have been sipping Water but my last two sips made me feel nauseous so I am taking a little break. Oh, after surgery you will be loopy from the meds. I insisted on peeing on the toilet and lost my balance or fainted while in there. About 5 nurses male and female ran to my rescue, but my nurse was upset because she told me not to go. Don't be hardheaded. I was like a drunk in denial. Overall, good experience. I do believe I'll be ok to work by Monday. Any questions?

Kieshart so glad to hear you are doing well! I had that 'runners' pain the third day after surgery. For me it was gas and one of my fellow sleevers handed me some gel that did the trick! They were rather adventurous and had gone to Wal Mart and bought drinkable Yogurt (tasted heavenly on day 3 or 4) and other things! Don't know where they came up with that gel but I thought what the heck, I'll take it. My surgery was about 11:00ish I think and I was out until 9:00 that night when the doctor and nurse were checking on me. Went right back to sleep until midnight and out again! Welcome to the other side!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
