Effects of Protein Shakes

I begin my 2-week pre-op diet on 7/29. I used the Atkins Protein shakes as Meal Replacements a few times this week to try them out. Now, I have been very gassy and bloated.

Has anyone had this problem with their shakes? Is there anything I could do to avoid gassiness and bloating during my pre-op diet?

Thanks! I'm going to stop by SAMs Club this weekend. ;)

Has anyone tried making their protein into a milk shake consistency and adding some Splenda? That's what I've been doing and I really like the taste of it. Just wanted to share my idea.

I've been using either unjury vanilla or nectar Vanilla. I them add about a TBS or two of SF pudding mix for a variety of flavors. Tonight, I had a vanilla mixed with SF cheesecake pudding in and sprinkled in some SF cherry Jello mix for Cherry Cheesecake... AWESOME! banana is great as well.

I had the same problem with Atkins. Premier is sooo much better. None of the same symptoms. I found them at Sams

If you make them in a blender with ice, they will get really thick like a milk shake. Frozen fruit is great in them too. Also get some of the sf syrups. I like sf coconut and

sf salted caramel

Yes that is what I have been doing this weeks. I use 1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1/2 cup coffee, 1 tsp splenda, ice, sf caramel syrup, and three scoops of EAS lean Protein powder. Love it and low cal _22.5 g protein.

Wow! I wonder why. My NUT said he has the same symptoms as well. I'm going to give Premier a try. It has to better than the way I've been feeling for the past 36hrs. I look & feel 7 months preggo. Lol Thankful I haven't brought my entire pre-op supply yet.

Premier is very good and I hate protein drinks. I picked up vanilla at Costco.... I think vanilla gives you more mixing options.

Hey everyone,

If you read the list of Atkins products, Malitol is an ingredient that is a sugar alcohol which oftentimes causes bloating, gas, & in some folk, diarrhea. I loved Dr. Atkins candy bars and boy as soon as I ate one, it was a wrap...lol

Hope this helps.
