Several years ago I found this awesome Tommy Hilfiger dress that I just LOVED!! I bought it and hung it in my closet! After dieting many times over the years I never quite got down low enough to wear it!!!

Well guess what I WILL be wearing that dress on a cruise sometime in the near future!!

I get sleeved on 8/8/13, so to help pump me up I am envisioning things like this:)

I think it's great to have that motivation! Many moons ago I was going on a cruise and had bought a dress for it that was a bit tight (I wasn't nearly as heavy as I was at the beginning of this journey)! I hung that on the outside of my closet so I could see it every morning. When it was cruise time, the dress fit perfectly.

Good luck with your surgery and we'll see you on the other side!

Thats Great!!!!

I had sort of the same motivation, (not nearly as exciting as a pretty dress and a cruise) but mine was a pair of jeans. They're so soft and perfect in EVERY WAY!! and I bought them in 2007. wore them ONCE and grew out of them. so my "first goal" was to get into those jeans... I had Surgery in January and now I can wear them (and I do just about 4 days a week haha) but now I'm almost too small for them =/ so I guess this means I need to find a cute new something -- possibly an awesome dress for a cruise! and hang that front and center in my closet for me next goal!

Congratulations, and best of luck to you on your journey!

Awesome. I've been holding onto clothes that I've outgrown for years with hope. Well, I've been able to wear them post op, only to outgrow them again, but in the opposite direction. Not disappointed at all. TALK ABOUT HOPE!!!!

Same here I am holding on to clothes that I purchased for my niece that were too big and I was supposed to return to the store and did not. Now the 3 pieces are my motivation clothing.

That's awesome! You will smoking hot in it!

I have some Juicy Couture denim leggings that I bought 2 years ago. They just never stretched enough to fit. I am pretty sure I'll be able to wear them this year when the weather gets cooler ( November at least here in TX).

It's going to be a major victory.

I have had my eye on a pair of size 9 Rockie jeans i have had since 1996. My goal has always been to slide them on. Now i have faith i will do it one day.

I just bout a beautiful dress at Coldwater Creek, a size 12. I wear a 20 but its really stretchy material so I tried it, and it fit!!! Skin tight, but it went over my hips! And I've only lot about 22 lbs so far. It's great motivation.

I also have a list of things I can't wait to buy that I've never been able to wear:

Leggings with a short cute skirt

A tight sheath dress in white linen or eyelet

Lacy sexy panties and other lingerie

Short skirts without chub-rub

Linen dresses, same as above

I am pre-surgery but have already lost 24 pounds and 2 pant sizes. I went shopping in my own closets and found many outfits that I've never even worn. My husband keeps commenting on my "new" clothes. I don't think he actually believes me when I tell him, "I've had this in the closet for years".

I did go shopping the other day at JC Penneys. They were having a terrific sale along with coupons I was able to score HUGE! I bought jeans for less than $2.00, blazers for under $5.00 and all sorts of tops between $1.00 and $5.00. I also bought 5 pairs of shoes for less than $2.00 each I ended up buying stuff in my current size and down to 3 sizes smaller. I probably spent less than $150.00 but I walked away with complete wordrobes in 4 different sizes.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
