Panicing About Failure...

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is the day. I never considered the possibility of failure. However, I just read someone's post about failing and gaining their weight back. It took me down a rabbit hole of researching sleeve failure and weight regain. I feel like I read one story after another, after another of people who regained all of their weight.

So this brings me to ask, does anyone succeed permanently? Does anyone not end up regaining weight? Am I doing this for no reason?

Only if you give into your demons. That's why people gain it back they choose to be unworthy of themselves. Love the new you. Restart your life and you will new look back!

I did the same. Read too many stories on line. I think it all depends on you, if you really want this like I am sure you do, you will be fine. I know how you feel, just think positive. I am here for ya, We will lift each other up when we fall!

During your first year that is the time to change your routines around and make your life proactive to weight loss and maintaining it for life. It is a tool to help you get the weight off and keep it off. You are the master behind the tool and it will only be as effective as the master wants it to be. I believe you have to purposely do things counterproductive that will cause weight gain. Such as drinking when eating to push the food through your sleeve so you can eat more or eat carbs etc until your full wait a little bit and then eat some more. If you are careful and eat accordingly you should be fine. Again the modifications that you make in your first year are going to make the difference. Hang in there!

You can do this. The sleeve is your tool but your head will determine your success. We all have to come to grips with food addictions but we can overcome them. Stay focussed, follow your doctors instructions and show us what you can do.

It's really up to you. This will help immensely, but it is not a cure for obesity. However, success begets success, and once the weight starts coming off, you begin to learn what you have to do. Just keep doing it! Wishing you great success with your surgery and subsequent loss!

Since day one of meeting with my surgeon, he said " I feel you are making a mistake choosing sleeve over rny. He kept saying there isn't long term success as with rny. Every time I saw him, he was like a broken record. One visit I said to him, I don't want to be in here for malabsorption issues, I don't want to come back to you for hernias, I don't want to be an old lady and worry about dumping syndrome, then I started to cry. He never mentioned rny again. I got my sleeve and failure is just as easy with the other procedures. I will not mess up my second chance at life.

This is still a new surgery. There still are no real long term studies. 5 years is the longest study I have seen. I believe it will be close to the same statistics as RNY. It is all up to the individual. It's up to you and your habits. It's not a magic cure all for obesity. It will always be up to you and how much work you put into it. You have to use the honeymoon phase to totally change your lifestyle. You can't go back to the same old habits and expect a different outcome. If you don't change your habits and lifestyle you will regain. Guaranteed!!!! But you can do this!!! It's just a commitment you have to make to yourself and stick to it. Your giving yourself the gift of this tool,,,use it. It's up to you!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
