How fast do you drink your protein shakes?

Recommended Posts

That doesn't make the shake too thick or Vitamin tasting? I've wondered about that.

Actually not really, Sometimes I add a few ice cubes and it waters it down a bit. The sippy cup helps because I can't "smell" it, and that's half the battle. I also get creative and make it with iced coffee, iced chai tea, and once in a while add a banana. I like putting PB2 and cinnamon in it as well. I have unflavored, chocolate, banana cream, espresso, and vanilla flavors so i won't get bored!

I drank much faster after surgery and after about week three i noticed i slowed down quite a bit. I usually try to have it as I drive to work and/or walk to class so i'm distracted as well- lol

i will be on my pre-op diet soon. i make my own almond milk. so i will b using that. pretty scared to try most Protein Drinks because they dont look appealing or they have artificial sugars. i can always taste the artificial sugar, and i dont like it. soooooo...i dunno what imma do. Ive been contacting companies asking for samples. but once i get the go ahead, i may just bite the bullet and start trying them one by one.

I really hate the premixed ones, but I have found that Isopure (carb free) hasthe least fake sugar taste for me. You could try unlavored and then add vanilla extract, a tiny bit of powdered Peanut Butter or other flavoring to get it down. These shakes have been my life saver so I won't stop drinking them!

i will try isopure. I purchased some crystal light, just looking for a decent powder. I would like to stay away from whey Protein. but it looks like i'm going to have to take the good with the bad.

1 Scoop of Protein powder and 8 ounces of Silk or Skim milk. Then shake and slam. Longest I have take was 4min. I like to get it over with. I'm pre-op liquid stage still.

U won't be able to chug after surgery, sorry.

I am PO Day 17 and I was wondering how long it takes others to drink their shakes? I mix mine with 8 oz milk and feel like it takes me forever! Maybe I am being too conservative! Thoughts?

What you are experiencing is perfectly normal at your early post-op stage. At that early stage it took me hours to finish an 8 oz shake.

I disagree... I can drink now just like I did before surgery.

I'm a lot further along than most of you but I still have a premiere for Breakfast because I'm not a Breakfast person...eggs..uck lol. I will take a choco premiere rtd and mix with coffee and a spenda over ice for a pretty good mocha. Or I will mix a vanilla one with a cup of 2% milk, ice, strawberries and banana in the blender...mmm. Both fill a 24 oz cup and I'll sip on it all morning at work.

I am almost 3 weeks post op and I make my shakes with 1% milk and only 4 ounces at a time. I can drink those 4 ounces in about 15ish minutes. I really haven't had any problems with drinking too much too fast. Only twice I've gotten a little twinge in my chest that I took for a sign to slow down or stop drinking for awhile.

There is a brand called J Robb, they make high quality Protein Powder and as a matter of fact they make one using egg whites from organic eggs and they sweeten all their powders with Stevia nothing artificial.

Good luck to you on your journey

8 oz is not that much to drink in 10 - 15 min if you have been eating regular food for a while. You seem right on target.

The Silk unsweetened vanilla almond milk comes in half gallons in the refrigerated section near the other milks, or you can also buy it unrefrigerated in quart brick packs. I have found both at Walmart. Only 30 calories per 8 oz.

I do a double shake in the morning. 8 oz Water plus 8 oz unsweetened vanilla almond milk, add 2 scoops of Syntax nectar chocolate Truffle Protein powder, and a few ice cubes and shake it in my Blender Bottle.

REALLY GOOD!!!! :)

I'm thinking of getting some other nectar products. I have the Twisted cherry and Roadside Lemonade. Your recipe sounds yummy!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
