post-108291-142194411781_thumb.jpgcan you believe it? I'm actually taking the Bariatric Support certification all day webinar today! I've been trying for a year ! Last chance for free so made it work. Hopefully, at some point can use what I learn somewhere.

Cool Georgia! I was thinking about doing that too, but just didn't make it happen.

I really want to go to a wound specialist. I can't go right now because all of them that I called said my wound is healed right now. So to them, I have no wound. I am going to try to get into an infectious disease specialist. I went to the doctor today, not my surgeon . She said when I get off these antibiotics , if the infection comes back, do not go to my sugeon. come straight to her and she will get me into the infectious disease specialist. Then, they will see I have an infection. It sounds crazy to me.

I'm really mad that I can't get into either one, unless the infection is present. To get into the wound specialist, it has to be an open wound.

I am sure I am an emotional eater. I eat tiny meals. I'm never really hungry. I am cutting carbs and eating tons of Protein because I can't fast. All I need to do really, is cut out all junk food.< /p>

I know this is awful, but it's comforting me that I am not the only one struggling. When I first joined this board, there were so few sleevers. I was so alone when I started gaining and losing , gaining and losing. Everyone else was reporting how they were full from 3 bites and never thought about food.

Florinda, last I heard, you were looking for a job. I think a lot has happened that you haven't told us about. Are you seeing someone special now?  And how is your health these days?

I'm excited too Sheryl that the Seahawks are in the superbowl. I don't know much about football at all, but we're having friends over and it will be fun to root for a

team in the PNW.

Hey we got a request from ASleeve4me to join our group. I know we talked about letting more people in. I know she's been around awhile, but I can't recall much about her. How does everyone feel.

I can't remember who we recently let in, but she's not posting.

Hi gals!

As Sheryl mentioned - Seahawks are off to the Superbowl again and I am a rabid, rabid fan so I have been in a blue/green haze since Sunday :)

I have had two great days with food - trying to reign in the carb/sugar monster and I already feel better. Hubby has brought home more bags of candy which I will do my best to ignore. I have Greek yogurt and Premier Protein Peanut Butter Protein Bars - both of those are foods that have a sweet taste but I do not abuse (as in this is fine but its not so good I will eat until I make myself sick). I am not sure what type of an eater I am so I should take the quiz - when I was a heavy smoker I took a quiz to see what kind of a smoker I was and I was off the charts in all areas - its still my shining achievement that I was able to quit after almost 30 years of 1-2 packs a day.

Any type of manner in which I can abuse food I seem to be able to pull off - being scared is what has helped get me back on track - remembering just how good I feel when I am taking proper care of myself and not eating mindlessly is helping. If I dont get mindful fast I will be right back where I started, once again.

I haven't gotten a fasting 500 calorie day in  - but yesterday I was at 790 cals, 62 g Protein, 92 g carb, 20 g fat - today so far I am at 500 calories, 28 g protein, 50 g carb, 17 fat. Really trying to focus on liquids and upping those - my own version of a 5 day pouch test I guess.

I see a new doc at the beginning of March so I hope that I will be down a wee bit before then.

I am so sorry to hear about folks passing, and the stress of caring for our older loved ones. I am on only child and my mom is 75 this year - she seems to be doing well, a few issues here and there but generally okay so far (knock wood) - our family trends to just drop dead out of the blue from stroke or heart attack though. I hope it will be that way for myself and all of my loved ones - poof :)

My thoughts and prayers are with you guys who cant get the time to move more, or that it hurts, and especially Denise with the wound - I hope you are better soon!

I read this from a post on FB last night and thought it was lovely - comforting with aging and passing. Brain Pickings is a pretty good site.

Have any of you got an instantpot or know anyone who does and give feedback. When I did the kitchen I changed to induction hob so my pressure cooker is redundant (have passed it on). It was over 30 years old so it didn't owe me anything and I know that pressure cookers have really moved on. I have read about the instantpot which is a slow cooker/rice cooker/pressure cooker + and it looks really interesting. I know it has been out in the USA for a while but only more recently offered in the UK. Any feedback would be helpful as it is quite costly and I don't want to waste my money.

Cathy, I haven't heard of it - best thing is to check reviews on Amazon.< /p>

Kelly - I am looking for a superbowl party. I can join some via meetups, but let me know the coolest place in town to go since I think I am going solo!

Denise - I misunderstood I thought you had a current infection. Sounds like your PCP has a good plan to intervene rather than just repeating with surgeon again.

I am pissed off at myself. I think I am on the verge of really getting a grip - as my eating is pretty good - I am just not working out hard enough to make my goals. I am going through a small tantrum over it right now..haha... Thing is I actually like working out, but I am worried about my bad elbow etc. Sort of like when you become less active, the obstacles to resuming seem bigger. Anyway, I am on the edge of great things! :)

Hmm, now that is a new one on me! I have not heard of it either. My go to is Amazon. I'm going to research. I might need one. ????

Yeah, Sheryl, I'm in the same boat. I'm losing the same 3/4 pounds over and over and I know it's because I won't get with the exercise. ????. Just simply can't get my mojo on. Ha!!

But I feel a lot better about my eating. And boy, the calories add up quickly. ????

Denise, infectious disease is def where you need to be. Sounds like a plan. I'm so sorry you are dealing with all this. I got kinda tickled when you said you were glad others were struggling and you weren't alone. Isn't that the truth? Lol. Misery loves company. At least we are all TRYING now. I'm praying this latest round of antibiotics does the trick!

Denise, with elevated liver enzymes, Hep C, + recurring infection, please be super careful and ADAMANT about your own health. They can't keep blowing you off and shuffling you around. Argh!!!

Love my pressure cooker, will never give it up.

Instant Pot ( 2 words it seems) gets rave reviews both in US and UK, just wanted to get feedback from a real person, some people gush about it so much on Amazon I wonder if they are real reviews or if they are put out by the makers. The recipes look good!

I used to cook with a pressure cooker when I was a poor college student - tender meats etc. This is the first I have been tempted to try again. I have a great crock pot/slow cooker that i use regularly already, trying to decide if this would be worth it.

I've not heard of the instant pot either. I am all for anything that can make cooking easier.

I'm still on antibiotics and I think tomorrow I finish them. Then it will be a waiting game to see if it's finally healed and there is no sign of infection.  Each time, it's taken about 5 days and it's back.

I started eating low carb again and I really notice a difference in my sugar cravings.

It's so true how eating carbs makes you crave carbs.

So glad to hear from you Kelly?

Nobody answered me whether or not we should let ASleeve4me into our group. We have a request that's just hanging there waiting for an answer.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
