Y'all can call me whatever suits! I just wanted to offer an easier alternative LOL.

Cheri -- VERY happy to hear your husband gets to stick around a bit longer. That has got to feel awesome that you're not last-minute scrambling and no mental preparation etc.

GT -- glad to hear your energy has come up a bit? Hope that is the case! Are you a civilian or a member of the military? I'm wondering how you ended up where you are after losing a job. Your story sounds fascinating, but you can just ignore me or tell me to butt out for being so nosy!!

Also, meant to add that I'm fasting today and am at 264 cals with the rest left for dinner, yay! But we got a gift from some friends of some bottles of wine and other goodies including foie gras. DAMN. Why did it come today?!? I will be strong...I will be strong...

So how did you do holding off on the foie gras and other goodies? Perhaps you could have them today? This is a hard delimma for me I have little will power at times. LOL I do know that I have lost a total of 2 lbs and is holding steady. :P

Tomorrow is another fast day and the remainder of the weight gained on vacay will likely drop off.....meanwhile I'm just eating proteins.......and veggies..................

Oh I love hearing that others eat pizza like me, the toppings and not the bready part......:P

No, it's still today, my fasting day -- my husband only texted me the photo of all the yumminess on the table at home, just a few minutes ago. I'm still just thinking about it, haven't actually faced the temptation yet. :o Here's to BEING STRONG BEING STRONG BEING STRONG lol...

I dig pizza toppings a lot actually.

Right, I have to stop thinking about food today LOL...my mouth is watering and my tummy's a rumblin... :D

Haha Dee,

Foie gras? I'd have no trouble staying away from that! My tastes are not that refined :P

Ok I went over yesterday, I tried not to because it was definitely stress eating yesterday was like a trifecta of bad news...

My dog is old and they think she's having heart problems. I'm old and the endocrinologist did a scan on a big goiter type nodule on my thyroid and wants to take it out. I have a to get a biopsy in two weeks but its probably benign.

I just don't want the scar in the middle of my neck. Vain I know but I scar really bad.

Came home to more and had more bad news from a friend.

By 10 pm? I was eating I had logged my calories by 7 I had 540 ... Last night I went on a roasted soy bean binge (I wanted cookies).

I'm not upset about ruining a fast day, I'm upset for the reason for doing it, stress eating.

I would have done the same thing probably. Time to give yourself a break, you can always fast on a day with less stressors. You have your plateful right now. The thought of having a surgery on your goiter is terrifying in it's self. Time to take a very deep cleansing breath and tell yourself that "I am doing good with all the chaos.

I know that you will handle the stressors better than you would have before wls.. :P

Now it's time to be compassionate with your self and give some space. I trying to do this with myself too.....:P)

Stay strong, Dee! No need to keep me strong about foie gras, though. I enjoy good food but the old Jewish grandmother that lives inside me insists the only liver I need to eat is chopped liver (made with chicken livers, plenty of onions and schmaltz/gribines, preferably) and this one time I was served a dish in a fancy Belgian restaurant that included a foie gras creme brulee and it was just...so wrong. Put me off the stuff forever. But you enjoy it once your feast day hits!!

Laura, that's a heap of sh*t right there, so I hope that you can forget yesterday and move on to today. I hope your dog will be okay - though I know that once they're old like that it's hard. Keep us posted on the biopsy. I hope that they can use the least invasive method possible and that it won't scar too badly. I also scar badly, but it does fade with time. But I get it, I wouldn't want one where everyone could see it, either. And prayers for your friend, too. I got a call from my closest friend yesterday that she was diagnosed with cancer. Just a day for bed news, wasn't it? On to today, I'm ready for something better!

And while stress eating isn't cause for celebration, you still deserve a pat on the back for binging on roasted soy Beans and not Cookies or any of the dozens of other poor choices you could have made.

So, my update:

I think sleep has been a major factor in my moodiness lately. I hadn't really put it together. Shevi hasn't been sleeping well for the last few weeks. I was getting between four and five hours of sleep a night and she wasn't napping during the day. All of a sudden, she went back to normal yesterday. Two nice, long naps and she slept eleven hours, woke up for a couple ounces and went back to sleep for another two hours. And I feel AH-MAZING. Seriously, like I have my sanity back, even though the sun isn't shining.

I was also down on the scale - the first real loss I've seen in forever. If it sticks (please stick!) I'm down into my maintenance window again and logging 140 pounds. Please let it stick!

I'm feasting today and fasting tomorrow.

Missing my stepkids a lot more than I expected but kind of relieved to have the house (mostly) back to normal. I just need to clean and put everything back where it goes.

Hope all of you ladies have a fabulous day! I'm choosing to be positive today and not dwell on things that have been bothering/worrying me. I need a nice, relaxing day and I can't have that if I choose to let myself be stressed.

~Cheri

Skinniness,

I thought about just not counting it as a fast day.

Because of the late night snacking, so I might attempt another later in the week.

Oh and goiter oh god that sounds so bad!! :P

Hehehe.... The doctor said I hide it well :D

I'm not worried about the biopsy it's small but he wants to take out the thyroid either way and **** my neck collarbone area is my prettiest part!

Is that vain?

Cheri? A loss?? That is awesome news! See that stress does not help us lose. I'm glad you are getting back to normal and getting some sleep :)

And yesterday sounds like a bad news day for a lot of people. I hope things work out for your friend.

OMG, I LOVE chopped liver. I could eat it every day...! Momma mia. They have Schmaltz available in my grocery store... I just haven't done it yet (I like to have hard cooked eggs chopped up in there too). I like liver in most formats...

Um, liver....to each's own that is for sure!

Cheri and Laura, I am sorry you both had such hard days. Not easy for sure. I am a stress eater, and, in the moment, it makes me feel better, then afterward I feel like ****, so I think I need to find a better outlet!

Oregon, you are doing so well!! The countdown is on to get that damn cast off!

Oh Dee, does your hubby always text you pictures of food, I think I would strangle my hubby!

Yesterday and today are normal days for me. My weight is dropping down, now at 5.4lbs lost. This is my losing week, so I am hoping to see some lower numbers before it starts to get wonky around ovulation...sigh

Just baking some muffins for my kids since it is a rainy day here. My daughter's birthday is coming up, so I am hoping the weather turns around so we can have it outside!

Have a great day everyone!

LOL...no, never! He's extremely supportive and also eats very healthy most of the time. He was just texting me a photo of some gifts we got.

But fast is done today, ended up at 560 -- that seems to be my number for some reason. But that's good enough!!

I'm always over 500. Between 5-600 but it seems to be working for me!

Yeah you know I went into the 600 calorie territory yesterday and I just weighed myself, 159... So I lost another pound. it's almost hard to believe that I made it into the 150's territory.

If its sticks I think it will be the biggest two week drop yet.

But if it goes up I will still be grateful for the two pounds from last week.

I feel so much more in control these days but relaxed and at ease at the same time.

I have my moments (daily) but there are so many more moments of ease too. The feed days are normal, normal life normal feeling no counting no obsessing and that's nice.

Oh and liver?? Blech!

It's been 10 long years! Here is my VSG weight loss surgiversary update..

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
