How do you know when you are full?

Recommended Posts

I'm on liquids but my NUT said I could have yogurt to since I have had a hard time with liquids and Protein. So how does everyone know when they are full say 7-21 days out? Possible even a month out? I'm 11 days post op and I have no idea when I'm full and I don't want to mess up my sleeve by eating/ drinking too much.

It is different for everyone. For me is was a tiny burp. I found out by trial and error. If I had one more bite after that burp I was very sorry. Some people get a runny nose as a signal. It is about eating slowly and listening to you body.

Also, the denser the food the faster you fill up.

I hope this helps.

You'll know. It's harder to tell just on liquids, but once you transition to puree or soft solids, you will know. I wouldn't worry about drinking too much as long as you are getting your Protein and Fluid requirements.

momo23

you won't really experience that full feeling or restriction til you start on solids

when i was full - i always burped!!!!

many of us have that side effect

some others say they have a runny nose :o

there is no such thing "as drinking too much"

my doc jokingly said to me.............

eat til i'm full, and stop 2 bites earlier

congrats on being sleeved

continued speedy recovery

i see B) success in your future

good luck

Nope, you won't! Your surgeon wants you to drink lots of fluids so you don't get dehydrated, do drink up! I'm 5 days out now and I'm drinking about 80-90 oz of Water a day on top of 3-4 8oz shakes and been just fine. Sip constantly through out the day to get it in. Good luck!

No, by 7 days out I was getting in about 54oz of Water a day. You'll be fine! :D

I start feeling a little heaviness in my chest and sometimes I gurgle and burp. I use a 4 oz bowl. If it doesn't fit it doesn't get eaten. Depending on what I eat, sometimes don't finish half of it.

I am 3 & 1-2 weeks post op. I drink fluids pretty much normally now. No problems. I'm still trying to figure out the whole satiety vs full feeling because you should be eating until you are satisfied (satiated), not full. But right now i am satiated at 3-4 bites of food, so not sure i'd get in all my Protein in if I didn't just wait a few minutes and eat the rest of my 2 oz meal. This is obviously not a permanent solution. Anyway when I get full I also let out a burp. Sometimes I can feel like my stomach pouch is heavy.

Give it some time and you'll figure it out for yourself. It's trial and error as others have said.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
