1 month out and I feel like I have no sleeve

Recommended Posts

well - it is different day to day. Some days I can hardly eat. But today, I wanted to stuff my face with everything in front of me. And I did (about half). Seems like I have very little restriction today. Maybe my brain is playing old scripts, but my stomach seems to be going along. I feel like I want to go have an upper GI done just to make sure I didn't have placebo surgery.

Am I crazy?

I'm sorry to hear this. I don't have an answer but I'm very interested as I am pre-surgery and its my fear that it won't work for me.

I'm 8 weeks out and my eyes are still bigger than my stomach. I can tolerate 4-6 oz (depends on the food) at a time. However, some things seem to go down easier than others and that scares me! When I get full, I get a knot in my chest, not necessarily my stomach telling me to stop. At that point, I can't get anything else down. Keep your portions small and don't over eat. You can stretch out your sleeve in less than a year. Maybe fill up on Protein Drinks instead and keep your carb intake low (I'm restricted to 40 a day). Always call your doc with any concerns or suggestions. Good luck!

You might try eating more filling foods. I can sit and eat a whole bag of cheetos and still not fill full. I choose not to now after I once made that mistake.

If you stick to denser Proteins, you will feel more restriction.

Today - 1 day later - I have no real hunger at all -

very strange - but my intention is to listen closely to my body and only eat when it really needs it.

I WILL go back to Proteins first - I think that does make me stay fuller longer.

Each food is going to feel a bit different. With my program, we had to eat our 3-4 oz of Protein first, then get in up to a 1/2 c of veg & then if there was room left over we should be getting in some (healthy) starch. At 3 months out, I'm usually just doing the protein & veg. I don't usually feel the restriction so much when I'm eating my meals. Ironically.. first time I really noticed it was when I had some sugar free Jello an hour later (I consider that to be more of a liquid). THERE IS NOT ALWAYS ROOM FOR JELLO! ;)

I'm only one week post op but the surgeon said get a 5 inch plate, divide it into 4 quarters. One section for Protein, veggie, fruit, and starch at each meal. Begin with protein, then veggie, then fruit, and last starch.

Your doctor should be able to give you something that will help with your head hunger. Are you eating anything yet yo should not be eating? I know I could nt hardly eat anything at one month.

I agree with everyone else, eat the Protein first. If I eat protein I get full faster than if I eat something like carbs. I can eat all most a whole bag of popcorn(which I won't be doing again), but 2.5 oz of meat and I am totally full. Stick with the protein it's best for you.

I still use a bread plate for my food plate. I don't put more than 1 cup of food on my plate, about 4 oz. meat and then some kind of vegetable. Rarely ever do I have a starchy food - unless we are having pizza. (And that's only once a week, if at all. So 1/8 of a frozen pizza and I'm full.)

I dream of pizza. Haven't been able to eat the bread part in over two years due to the lapband. Would be nice to have a bite and not choke like before. I look forward to it!

I couldn't eat Pizza Crust for almost 4 yrs. Got my band totally unfilled (slip) 3 mths ago and I've eaten lostso pizza (actually, I can still only eat 1 pc) I guess I just meant that I've eaten it often (at least 5x). The only 3 things my and wouldn't tolerate was pizza crust, pancakes, and pineapple chunks. Everything else I could eat.

Yes, the first bite of pizza was heaven!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
