The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research

Thanks Green. That made me feel better. We are changing doctors. Doesn't take me too long to look at a horseshoe. (old Texas joke)

I told my doctor that I got the band a few days AFTER I got it. His response was to tell me that he loses weight by eating small meals. Thanks, Doc.

umm--what about the fact that no useful medical advances have ever come from fetal stem cells??
Let's see, could it be that crippling research by cutting off Federal funding has curtailed progress?:faint:

Or maybe; when things are complicated, it might take some time?:faint:

Jillrn: They don't have a cure for Breast Cancer yet. Should they stop trying because some men resent that the money spent up to this point hasn't found a cure?

Betsyjane: My doc told me that I should stop eating so much and then I wouldn't gain weight and be obese.

You know in med school they don't really give the students real tools to help overweight people. In fact there is prejudice against fat people there too, just like everywhere else.

My Doc told me to eat portions the size of my fist, I told him I would be happy to feed him a little lunch.

I now have a new doctor, he told me I should do a little research on a something call a laproscopic gastric band. He asked me to do the research and after I did come back and see him, if I thought it was the right tool for me he would set me up with a surgeon who would do the surgery.

105 pounds later and here I am

Cheers

Oh, you guys.... Well, Green has been spending her time doing her homework and the website is www.RateM.Ds.com or something pretty damn close, close enough to google, eh.

Let it be said that Green had spent some pleasant hours on this site. First of all she visited the American state where her brother is a doctor in order to see how he fared. Turns out he isn't even listed...yet.

Then she visited her home province, Ontario, in order to scope out her doctors (and dentists), both historical and present. This was tons of fun. Turns out that her GP has a high - smiley face - rating. Green loves her doc and so she added in her praises.

Green's shrink wasn't listed. She mentioned that to him this ayem during her appointment. The guy was kind of disappointed and asked her to put him in there but Green feels a little conflicted about the request; she is not, you see, that fond of him.

She has, so far without success, been trying to remember the GP from hell whom she saw 12 years ago. She would like to enter her name in order to warn folks away from her. It's too bad that she had gotten into the habit of thinking of her as Fraulein Doktor Mengele. Now she will never, ever remember her real name.

Green thinks that this site is a good idea. It does empower the consumer, that is to say us.

TommyO: STOP... YOU'RE MAKING MY PORT BULGE FROM LAUGHTER! I'VE ALWAYS HEARD OF A FIST SANDWICH, BUT YOU ACTUALLY USED IT IN A SENTENCE.

105 lbs. Wow. I am humbled.

Green: Thanks for the info. I will check it out and see if my Doktor Mengle is listed. I'll get back to you, okay? A.

Umm... could it be that funding is cut off?

The very question is preposterous.

WOW. I just found this thread today. Abortion is murder. That is a very bold statement. There could be some murderers among us. Creepy thought. OH PUHLEASE. :rolleyes

I have a question - why can't they use miscarried fetus' instead of aborted?

I am totally against abortion - and yes I have several close to me who have gone through it so I know the effects of abortion. Someone said what about all those unwanted babies who could have been aborted - good Lord woman! Have you ever talked to someone who is trying to adopt a newborn? There are so many who want babies that I truely don't believe there could ever be lack of homes for a newborn. I don't know the stats but even those in foster homes surely aren't newborns with no where to go! So then you say well what about the mental turmoil of giving a child up - what about the mental turmoil of an abortion? One of my friends 20 years later is still mourning the death of her aborted baby, is that any different then wondering where or how the adopted child is? And tell me truely - someone please look it up - how many children are really conceived during a rape? Come on now - it has got to 1 out of billions!

Going all the way back to the first page when T.O.M quoted scripture - very interesting but you are talking about first man - God's first creation. Do you not think that God knows you until you take that first breath of air? Adam didn't have the luxury of an umbilical cord since he was created from dust instead of flesh and blood. But if you read on about Eve - God didn't have to breath life into her since she came from a living being. Jeremiah 1:5 says "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;" Funny how God who doesn't consider it a life with a soul, as you would have it, could have a plan on a life while yet in the mothers womb. BTW that is the NIV version but if you go to www.biblegateway.com you can pick any version you'd like.

Thats my opinion. Respect it or not.

Then it should be okay for atheists to have the freedom to choose since they don't believe in the Bible or God, any God, anyway.

I am surprised that folks actually still believe in Adam and Eve, I suppose that if Adam and Eve didn't have an umbilical cord they didn't have belly buttons. Wow! now that's an image that's going to make me giggle all day. Do you think Cain an Able worried when they looked at their parents and saw that they were different.

Except if God created Adem and Eve, He could have created them with belly buttons. :scared:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
