I can drink 8 oz in like 15 minutes. I was sleeved 7/29. I don't have to sip much I can almost take a normal drink and it doesn't hurt at all. I can easily get my fluids and Protein in finally.

This really helps me. I don't know why...but I guess having to start with the medicine cups and having the NO STRAW rule (is that still in force, btw) and the general attitude of "TRY" (as if it would be difficult$ to get in 64 oz of h2o over the day, had me thinking I was drinking Water to quickly. I don't know. I have to find something to worry about! I guess I envision myself drinking too much and causing a terrible problem!

I guess I'm still sitting around taking little bird sips! I wanna take a regular drink! Lol!

I was using the medicine cups also in the beginning and could do more than 6 an hour but was told by the doctor to not go over that. Then earlier this week they told me to focus on getting my meals in ( Breakfast, lunch, dinner) and not to use the cups but drink from the water bottle and nothing during my meals or 1/2 hour before or after meals. They want me to focus on the routine of eating now. I still don't have a problem getting my fluids in. The doctors joked that with all the problems I had with the two surgeries (1 was the sleeve the other was an emergency because I was bleeding) this was the easy part for me. Where everyone else has problems swallowing and getting in their fluids it was easy for me and everyone else had a good surgery I had internal bleeding. You do what is best for you and if the medicine cups work stick with it. Try taking a slightly larger drink and see if you do okay. You may surprise yourself. Good luck!

Lol! I live in Texas! But I'm from Oklahoma!

I will! I'm so sorry! I'm not still drinking out of the medicine cups, but for some reason, I was afraid to take more than a very tiny sip at one time...so I've just been barely sipping out of my glass, knowing, I can comfortably drink more! And since I have heat exhaustion, I need to drink as much as I can! And it's hard when your afraid you're abt to blow your self apart!

I have heard that the Water is quickly absorbed by your body which is why it's easier to take it in. You won't rip your tummy open as long as you are not chugging it. With the heat exhaustion you need to focus on getting in as much as possible, I agree but go at a rate that is comfortable for you and stay cool. Have you tried setting a timer?

I am 10 days out and still on Clear Liquids. The only problems I've had are nausea and today I think I dumped after having a sf Popsicle. I want to eat real food so bad, but that isn't going to happen for awhile. I start regular liquids on the 13th for two weeks, and then I get to have puréed on the 27th. Right now it feels like it is so far away. I am still tired a lot too and am at the point where I'm wondering if I'm ever going to feel better.

I realize that all doctors are different and their standard of practice varies. But I was sleeved on July 29th and I'm already on soft solids. I skipped phase 3.

I'm afraid I'm moving too quickly. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to be eating real food. I'm just concerned that my course of post op treatment is so different from all the posts I read.

I was only 5 days out when my Dr put me on soft solids, I was sleeved July 25th. No issues so far! I'd say if your Dr says you're ready for soft foods, don't stress about what everyone else's Dr says. That's what I'm going with anyway :-)

I only had1 week of full liquid, then purees til week 6, with something new added each week according to my program. I just started week 4 and I have been eating: ricotta cheese (mixed with cinnamon), cottage cheese, greek yogurt, pureed chicken with a veg in it, refried Beans, deviled eggs, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed potato, and canned crab meat with light mayo. I also made some sugar free pudding with a scoop of unflavored Unjury. At this point I can eat about 3 tbsp at a sitting.

I findd my biggest challenge is timing everything...making sure I am not drinking close to meals, and fittiing Protein Shakes in too. I feel lucky to have no trouble getting in my liquids...I'vebeen getting 80-90oz/day/ The clear liquids like Water and diet tea I can drink pretty quickly b/c they just go right through the sleeve. I would say I can take in 32 oz in an hour.

I worry about fitting it all in with timing when I am back to work when school starts in a couple weeks!

You all have a much better sounding diet than mine. I just finished 2 weeks of clear liquids and started full liquids today with three Protein Shakes, I've had one earlier and now am trying really hard to get down the second but I feel so full, like it is up in my throat, yuck.

I was sleeved July 24th had to stay on liquids for 1 week Had my f/u 1 week after surgery Doc said I could start eating eggs which I was thrilled with after nothing but liquids for 3 weeks. I downloaded an app @ Livingstrong.com to count calories and am AMAZED how little I am sustaining on. Most days I take in a total of around 600 calories. My doctor told me to start lite cardio which I admit I do but could be more enthusiastic about. I take in about 60-80 oz /day of Water so here is my question, why am I not losing like I did before the eggs??? On liquids I dropped 25lbs prior to surgery Two weeks since my last weight in and I've lost 4 lbs I don't understand Anyone else having this problem???

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
