Ok, my surgeon wants me to start my liquid preop diet 10-14 days before surgery. Did anyone do the diet longer? I'm wanting to start sooner to lose whatever I can before surgery and to make extra sure my liver is the suitable size lol. This will be my first surgery and stay in the hospital in my life so I'm a little nervous about the whole liver thing. I want to start it sooner or do some kind of almost all liquid diet. I just need some input

If you're up for the challenge, go for it! I didn't have to do full liquids pre-op, but I had a 10-day pre-op diet. I struggled to make it through but kept my eyes on the prize. There's nothing wrong with starting early and jump starting your weight loss! Rather than get bored/frustrated when it counts, though, (when you're actually required to do it), my advice would be to start supplementing 1 meal a day with a Protein Shake to ease into it.

Depends on your pre op diet. I was on Optifast and never felt hungry so it was fairly easy to go the distance. Be careful not to start so early that you can't stick to it. Determination is key. Good luck.

Hey,

I'm on a 21 day liquid diet. I started it today and its been very easy for me, I even made Breakfast and lunch for my son and then chicken Alfredo Pasta and veggies for supper for my family. I believe that today was easy for me because I spent the last 2 weeks tapering off of food. I usually had 2 shakes (visalus) or a Protein one, a small snack ( fruit and a slice of cheese) and then supper with my family. My supper was always a Protein and steamed veggies. I stayed alway from carbs and pop for those two weeks :)

Asked me tomorrow and I might have a different answer but I truly believe that tapering off is the way to go. I wouldn't do a pure liquid diet for longer than you need, just be smart in your choices.

My hubby even said he would take me wherever I want to go last night to eat whatever and however much I wanted..... Guess what.... I said no thank you and had a healthy supper instead.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
