February 2007 bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I went in for my second fill. I had a weight loss of 9 lbs. woo hoo! The first fill definitely did the job for me.

My first fill was 1.5 cc. but yesterday, he pulled out 2.0 cc. said that the extra .5 was from the flouro right after surgery. He gave me an additional .5 cc and my band is holding 2.5 cc today. I'm on 48 hr. liquid, then move on to food which will definitely test my new restriction.

Hi All , I've been very busy with my school choir , so I've just caught up w/ you all. It seems like we're all about in the same boat. I am really losing my hair too. I had to unclog my shower drain 2 days ago and there was soooo much hair in it , it looked like a small animal in the corner of my shower . yuk !:) I had my 2nd fill at the beginning of the month and i really know what restriction is now. PBing and I have become really familiar. I'm supposed to go in for my 3rd the beginning of June , but we'll see how I feel. I've lost 44 lbs. now tho' and people at work are beginning to comment. School is out for the summer in one more week. WOOHOO !:biggrin1: Anyway , my co-workers said they'll be excited to see what I look like when we start back in August. I'm glad for their support.

After next week , I plan on getting in there and getting my house cleaned up from top to bottom. I've not wanted to do much with it so far. I've had heart arrythmias for 4 years and since losing weight , they've seemed to calm down immensely , only a few a week.:clap2: I'm going to have an executive profile blood test soon and will be anxious to see what other good results there are as a result of this new way of living.

I've also had my first pedicure , which I thoroughly enjoyed. Now that I'm looking better , I spend more time on my looks. Hey have a great week-end everyone , take a walk and enjoy the springtime ! It's a great time of the year to be outside !:(

Andrea,

Congratulations on your weight loss! It's so nice when people began noticing, your hard work is finally paying off. I'm so glad you treated yourself to a pedicure, you deserve it!

I guess I haven't checked in lately. My weight loss really slowed down from before my 1st fill until last week. I think I've finally started losing again, but it is very slow. I am trying so hard to lose another 30 pounds by mid-August when we are going to Yellowstone. Then, I hope to lose another 10 or so by November when we go to Europe. I want to be able to walk, climb stairs, ride horses, etc. Any advice on how I can speed up my weight loss?

Hope there's room for one more. I recently found this website after becoming increasingly frustrated with obesityhelp.com. I was banded 2/22/07, I have lost between 30 and 35lbs depending on the day. I have had one fill of 5cc (10cc band) on April 17. I still have some restriction if I behave myself and eat as I should. I have recently become serious about the exercise, as I realize I will probably never lose all my excess weight unless I am willing to committ to an exercise program. anyone can feel free to PM me or email.

Thanks, it was so important to me, finding out that I'm diabetic during my pre-op testing, (devastated) to be able to control it without having to go on any medication. My doc is thrilled.

Oh, yeah, and my cholesterol is still a bit high, but it's coming down!! No meds for that, either, and my blood pressure was great! These were all things that concerned my doc in January, but not anymore!!!!! WOO-HOO!!!!

Teacher and Rebecca , thanks for the encouragement. I really am feeling better about myself every day. Plus only 4 more days of school !YEEHAW !:biggrin1:

Shellnurse - exercise has really helped me get the lbs. moving off again . Although I don't enjoy it while I'm doing it , I've found that I feel a lot better and more energetic the rest of the day. I spent a few hours a day dancing with my jr. high choir. Now that school will be getting out I may join curves or work out at home. I just know I've gotta keep moving !

Travelgirl - WAY TO GO !:clap2: Isn't it awesome to know that you're getting healthier every day ? I will never regret having this done.I only wish that I could have had it 10 years ago , so that I could have been a more active mom when my girls ( 12, 14 & 17 ) were little. One of them told me the other day that it was weird that I was getting smaller. She said that she always thought that moms were supposed to be "BIG" and that she thought little moms looked weird. It's kind of sad when you think about it ! Oh well , active mom is here now and I'm taking them to

6 Flags theme park on Friday ( along w/ 5 bus loads of jr. high kids):omg: Roller coasters here we come !:heh:

Have a great day everyone !

ARMKAM Are you nuts. . . going with 5/bus loads to 6 Flags? I just got off my bus run, couldn't wait! Makes me love my own children all the more. They are all out now (34, 30 & 28). Anyway you have a wonderful time. I hope when I finally lose some serious weight that I feel good enough to get down and play in the sand box with my grand children and not need a forklift to get me up. Slow going, but it is going. Today I went in for another fill. I now have 8cc in a Vanguard band. This was my 4th fill. I am no on liquid for two days. I was still having major carb craving, so I hope the new .5 cc will help.

Wow, no one has had anything to say for 2 whole days! I guess I'll get it started again....

I think it's time for a fill. I've been back and forth with the same 2 lbs for about 3 weeks now. I'll call to set up the appointment this morning.

How is everyone doing?

A couple of days ago I said Armkam was nuts going a a field trip with kids, well here I am today with a bus load at the fish ladder in Turnersfalls, MA. But I brought my laptop, so I'll catch up on some reading. I go for another fill June 12, that will my 4th. So far I have 1.8cc. Went to a group meeting last night at UMass (Worcester MA) Mostly gastric bypass people. I think there were maybe 6 lapbanders there. It was really good talking in person with someone who has just been banded and someone who is a couple years out. still at 18lbs down, but that could be 18lbs up. Chat again soon. Bonnie

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
