I had my first post-op appointment. And my liver results are in!

Recommended Posts

I thought they were going to kill me with the wait! I've been calling and calling and calling with no results.

When I had my surgery two weeks ago, the doctor removed a 2"x 2" piece of my liver because there was a mass on it. They were fairly certain it wasn't cancerous but of course, had to send it away. At my appointment today, the NP couldn't tell me what the mass was, but that it wasn't cancer or anything else to worry about. They removed the entire mass and I really don't even need to see a specialist in the future (but I will).

I have lost 36 pounds to date and I am a happy girl!

I have graduated to soft mushy foods. Imagine my surprise when the NP said I could now have yogurt and pudding, something the NUT said I could have as part of my full liquids. The NP did say that she is personally much more conservative than the NUT, but no biggie. She did tell me to go get a cup of KFC mashed taters and gravy (individual) and see how that went down. After three weeks of shakes, pudding and yogurt, it was a dream come true. I ate the cup in thirds and could definitely tell when I had one lick too many. Won't do that again.

Yes, I am so classy, I no longer eat my food, instead, I lick it off the back of a baby spoon. Wonder how many boys I can pick up with this stunning new habit.

I am SO glad to hear your Great news about your liver. Bad livers are WAY uncool!

And I am sure that Richmond boys (I grew up there) would find a baby spoon way cute!

Hey LipstickLady! We have the same Dr. and I think we have the same NP too. Is her last name Paige? At my two week checkup she told me to try some macoroni and cheese! My face lit up. Hahahhaha I had a few bites but then felt guilty.

Nope. Mine is Erin. I like Paige better all of a sudden.

Yes, I think diet guidelines are all over the place, from doctor to doctor and even within the same practice! For me, full liquids essentially meant purees cause she said I could blend anything I wanted. Then, for soft foods, anything I could cut with a fork. That's almost anything that's cooked well enough! Maybe not a steak, but lots of other stuff.

Good to hear the liver is ok!

Crazy, I have the same thing. Well, they aren't sure if it's an actual mass or lots of little veins together. They found it during an ultrasound of my gallbladder and then sent me in for a CT Scan. They tried to biopsy it in surgery but it was so far over they didn't want to risk me bleeding. Now I have to get an MRI in the summer. They did rule out cancer already so that's a plus.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
