Sterilized after surgery?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone gotten sterilized after surgery? I'm over 40 and my husband and I do not want any more little ones. We discussed IUDs but have decided on sterilization. I'm torn between tubal ligation and Essure. Has anyone had tubal implants? Any info is appreciated.

I would like to know about this as well. I have decided that I want to do the Essure procedure, but am waiting until after my sleeve surgery to take care of that. I don't personally know anyone that has had Essure, but would certainly like feedback from anyone on here who has :)

I gave birth to 3 ten pound babies.. Plus a gazillion other surgeries over the years.. There was only one option in my mind... Husband + snip snip = 0 new babies

I had a consultation with my OB today and Essure done as an outpatient would be best if I lose more weight, but at my current weight would be surgery instead of vaginally. Going with Mirena for now. And hubs won't snip snip. :-(

It really makes me fly into a rage when I hear things like, "and hubby won't snip snip" Oh, is that so?!! That @$%^***ing @#$hole won't have a minimally invasive surgery that is REVERSIBLE, but is perfectly willing to make you go through serious surgery?!! FU** THAT NOISE!! Always, always fu**ing willing to offer us up on a god da** platter, but one whiff of effort or discomfort on their part and suddenly it's absolutely not.

You know why medical (male) professionals are against the male birth control pill? Because of the side effects of blood pressure, stroke, clots ... the samn GD side effects that we are susceptible to, but heaven for FU**ING bid the MEN experience any danger!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU**

Sorry, I'm kinda frustrated right now :/

Actually sterilization or long term birth control is my choice. His intense fear of a vasectomy is something we discussed and I accepted long before we got married. I'm sorry it frustrates you, but every situation is different and it doesn't make my husband an a*****e.

I just had the Essure procedure a week ago today. Obviously, it's not effective yet (it's not effective for 3 months and you have to have a HSG test to prove your tubes are blocked).

I'm pre-op (will be sleeved in October) but I wanted to get this out of the way first. It wasn't a big deal (I've never had children so it was slightly uncomfortable but bearable).

let me know if you have questions!

If you are a heavy bleeder you could possibly be a candidate for the ablation. The procedure can be done in the office or hospital. It renders you infertile and under most circumstance also prevents you from having a period. 10% will still have a period but much lighter. All they basically do is cauterize the lining of the uterus.

I personally had my tubes tied when I was 32. But at age 33 the Doc's told me I should have the ablation. They did some further tests and found out I was not a candidate for the ablation and I need a hysterectomy. OMG, It was the best thing I ever did! Freedom from bleeding, pads, tampons, embarrassment, monthly pain etc.

I'd research Mirena side effects first. I had many issues, including losing most of the vision in my right eye, optic neuritis. I've recovered most of it, but not all.

Since I had my Mirena removed my period has been a nightmare.

I looked into Essure but there is nickel in it and I'm sensitive to nickel. I may end up getting a partial hysterectomy. I gotta lose more weight and go back to the Doc.

What was your recovery time?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
