I'm feeling great when it comes to progressing (liquids, Protein, exercise). Tolerating all that without difficulty. I have lost a total of 17 lbs including the 5 lbs preop. Problem is its Saturday and I feel that I'm confined to the house. Never stopped to think how much my life revolved around food. When I leave the house food comes up: we're either going to dinner, to buy grocery or getting a snack as we go wherever.....I'm so bitchy right now, my kids are catching hell. Yes I have 3 kids who I feel are suffering with me! : , (

The oldest keeps asking., "how long before you can eat?"....I have another week of full liquids...what's a momma to do?

That's a tough one! I had to excuse myself for the first couple of weeks because I felt the same way. And it was to hard to be around food. Luckily my husband took over for a bit with cooking the meals at home. But in the first weeks I also was faced with having to go out to eat once or twice. I took the opportunity and ordered Soup and spent my time enjoying the conversation.. If you do things like take them to the movies bring a pre made shake and sip on that.. It really helps.

I hear you. I was sleeved three weeks ago yesterday. I have really had to think about stuff my husband and I used to do and how much THAT used to revolve around food!! Scary!

I think it is normal to reflect on the part food has played in our lives and how that is going to change.Sometimes it feels depriving but I believe being on a limited diet doesn't help. There is so little I can eat right now that I am pretty much confined to getting all my meals from my kitchen and the list my surgeon gave me is truly weird. I keep wondering if there is a method to his madness...........needless to say, I am sick of the food on it and am really eating purely for nourishment at this point....which is strange, never did that before!!

I do believe that all changes when you are free to eat whatever you want and can exercise good sense. Then you will be able to go places and make healthy choices in smaller amounts. Hang in there!! Everyone says it gets better!!!

Congrats on your success and your positive outlook! :)

Depending on the age of your children and where you live, there are lots of things to do.

If you're looking for ways to handle YOU- try journaling. Especially in the early weeks it's a great way to get your emotions out and keep your hands busy. If you prefer typing to writing by hand, start a blog. You can also try taking up a craft like knitting or cross stitching, maybe even scrapbooking.

If you're looking for a way to handle your children while you're adjusting to your new lifestyle, try getting them involved in your new lifestyle. Having them "help" you by keeping track of Water or Protein grams by tracking them on a white board or a chart with stars on the refrigerator is an idea. Have them join you in your walking or whatever other fitness you've chosen to do, or allow them to choose the route. It's a great opportunity to teach them healthy alternatives to what they may be seeing in school or from their friends!

You're off to a terrific start and I wish you all the best on your journey! :)

There is a MAJOR difference between being selfush and taking care of yourself. You have invested time and money in the sleeve and it is worth doing whatever u need to be a fit healthy Mom. Mom guilt us a terrible thing!! It's only short term sacrifice for them but long term gain for a happy healthy mum

I am 13 days postop and have 4 kids and feel your pain. I have been making most of my kids meals and usually after i serve them dinner i go to bed cause I've been feeling crummy in the evening. The thing that has helped me is that I've been completely honest with my kids they know what I had done and why i had it and they offer me food but ask me if i can have it first. They really have been considerate.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
