marijuana and the sleeve

Recommended Posts

Please no judgments.

My BFF is in the bariatric program at Kaiser. She is an occasional marijuana user. She disclosed this to her surgeon who advised her that she would need to provide him with a clean drug test before they are able to proceed. She did and passed. BUT her case manager told her that she has to be clean for three months before she can get a surgery date. Its a regional rule that isnt written down anywhere. Has anyone had any experience with this. Please help....

No judgements here. I dont know if its the same thing but I have to qyit smoking to have the surgery its so bad they check your blood for it ughh , Seems your friend is on the right track she told her surgeon. As far as getting around the rules, I would do whats asked, after the surgery she can resume her smoking .

I don't think this is routine to check for drugs. If so they would probably have to disclose it. Sounds like its just this surgeon

I'm not judging ur friend but the reason they want her to stop smoking is because it delays the healing progress of the surgery plus when it come to marijuana it stays in the system longer

This may not have been in my health's best interest (or my life's-for that matter), but I answered 'no' when asked if I "smoked" during the pre-op process. I don't smoke cigarettes so I answered 'No'. Period.

I had to take a pulmonary function test, cardiologist, bloodwork, etc. Nothing came up in my tests. I did have sleep apnea and was pre-diabetic-both conditions-gone since I've lost weight. I also had hiatal hernia repaired during the sleeve. I'm going to fess up-I've continued to enjoy my mj pretty regularly. If anything, it helps my asopgagus relax so I can eat. My sleeve is tight-I.e.; I ate one cheeseburger slider (out of the 3-burger serving). And 2 small pieces of calamari and 2 Stoli vodka and tonic with extra limes at my daughters graduation party yesterday. No desert-too full. A year ago at 278 pounds, I would have ate (and drank) until I was sick! Now I eat in moderation drink at least once on weekends, and smoke some weed. I've lost almost 90 pounds. Get hit on by men again (although I am happily married!) and feel 20 years old! (or at least 35! ;). Everyone is different. Marijuana works for me on a number of health issues (both physical and emotional). Thank God I had no complications post-op other than the small- ish sleeve! The food addiction is what was killing me slowly. I feel so much healthier now and vibrant with energy again! Every dr. is different. I wouldn't say anything and cut back before any tests. Good luck ;)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
