I was hoping that was not the case but 6 weeks tomorrow and only down 32lbs I'm kinda depressed. I stay on track calorie wise and most days get all my Protein in and liquids not issue. I am starting exercise today.. Couldn't until now besides walking. I go up and down on the scales, no stalls just up and down the same pound then lose then start process again on the next pound. I guess I was hoping for more and to look better but instead I still look awful and always feel like I should be eating less.

If it makes you feel any better, I started with a high BMI, I never, every go off plan, drink all of my Water and get in all of my Protein, track everything on MFP, have been walking since week 1 and back at the gym within a few weeks--and I have lost a little less than you have--but in 11 weeks, so almost twice as long. I think we are all different. Actually you have lost about 5 pounds a week, which I believe puts you on the high end of average. Hang in there and think how much that would be in 6 months or a year (I don't know how much you have to lose). Even 4 pounds a week over 5 months is 80 pounds! 5 months is nothing--it will fly by. Congrats on your loss so far and keep up the GREAT work!!!

First of all, if that is you in your profile picture you don't look awful, you are beautiful! Second, 32 pounds in 6 weeks is GREAT! That's an average of more than 5 pounds per week! When have you ever previously been able to say you consistently lost 5 pounds per week for 6 weeks straight? (I've never been able to say that!) I'm 4 weeks post op and have only lost 18 pounds since surgery so I think you are doing amazing! Keep your chin up!

Please don't be hard on yourself. Every person's body is different and reacts differently. I only lost 5 lbs during my 2 wk pre-op diet. Where as there are members on here who lost well over that. But over the years of yo-yo diests, I know my body and how it reacts when calorie intact is restricted. It goes into survival mode and holds onto EVERY possible pound.

Being at my 3 mth mark post-op, I'm now losing 1-2 lbs a week. I'm ok with that. What's that old addage?...."Slow & steady wins the race".

Hang in there and be patient not only with yourself but your body. :)

Thank you, I guess was feeling down. I have never lost this much and kept it off. So I will try to stay positive and stay on track.

From what I read on here, your loss is solid. I think 5 lbs a week is nothing to sneer at, unless you're like 400 lbs then I understand a little. Higher BMIs tend to lose a lot of weight real quick. I think you're beautiful and you're definitely on your way to a healthier you.

I'm right with you, a slow loser. I've accepted it and try to look at it in different ways. I'm averaging about 10 pounds a month, so far. That means in 10 months, I will be down 100 pounds, and that makes me extremely happy. Also, I'm hoping that by losing slow, I maybe won't have to deal with the horrible Hair loss that everyone talks about. LOL

If it makes you feel better I'm 6 weeks out and only down 25lbs so you're way ahead of me :) but it doesn't bother me, because prior to my sleeve it took me 6 months to lose 20 lbs so this is definitely a step up for me, and I figure this way hopefully I won't have saggy skin. And remember above all weight loss is weight loss, progress is being made no matter how big or seemingly small

That's great!! I'm 8 weeks and haven't lost 32 pounds yet. Please try not to compare, I know it's hard. I started at 205 the day of surgery and I'm ok with losing slow.

VSG is such a crazy world--we consider a 5-pound-a-week weight loss "slow," where pre-op, that would have been miraculous! We consider a morbidly obese BMI of 35 as being "a low BMI." We think 1 cup of food is a LOT. It's all relative--and it's the new normal!!!! :-)

Not sure what your history is, but here's something else to consider--can you imagine GAINING 32 pounds in 6 weeks? You'd feel like the little girl in "Charlie and the chocolate Factory" and you'd probably be panicking over how fast it was piling on, right? It would alarm you, because you wouldn't want such a speedy weight gain, and you'd be anxious, upset, and desperate to get it to stop. Well, the flip side is that when we want something (like weight loss) SOOOOO badly, it seems to take forever to arrive. Same 32 pounds, different reaction.

Also, if you've put weight on all your life, or even just over the course of a few years, try (I know it's hard, but TRY) to keep in mind how slowly and gradually it went up. It's going to sometimes be a slow descent, too, but you will get there! Meanwhile, the weight loss that seems so painfully slow to you is really very inspiring to someone like me, who is just starting the VSG process and has to be patient about getting the surgery. You're going to do fantastically!

(Edited for a typo, because I'm an English teacher and it would keep me awake at night to leave it sitting there.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
