Tomorrows surgery got cancelled, iam PREGNANT!

Recommended Posts

I just gor a call saying my surgeon is cancelling my surgery for April 10th because I am preggers!

I am in a shock! I am not even late and I was regular + all the appointments, tests, psych evals, counseling and on top of that I was on 5 day of liqui diet. Everything has to be redone after a year and what are the chances if my insurance.will approve me again or not, since I didn't have any Comorbiditys. Iam 221 and 5'2, just got lucky this time with my insurance.

Oh and don't forget the weight.gain during pregnancy!

I am so nervous right now, don't get me wrong I am very happy but i.had every.thing planned for the new life without all this weight..

Your positivity is highly appreciated.

Good luck to all of my fellow April sleevers:)

Girl....this was my biggest fear (Date: 3/29). I am sssoooooo sorry this happened to you. But....it's a child. This specific egg at this specific time. Must be someone very, VERY special. And maybe this baby is saving your life. Maybe your surgery would have gone terribly wrong, you never know!

I am so sorry, and I understand your mixed emotions completely. I'll be praying for you....and that miracle baby!!!!

Wow, I can imagine you would have mixed emotions over that. All in all, though, what a joyous surprise. :) You do still get to plan for a new life! A brand new precious life that has begun and will be making an appearance in about 9 months or so! <3

Wow! First, congrats! You must be in shock! I'm sure the room is spinning, but man oh man, good thing they found out now instead of next week!

I guess it's true, life happens while we are busy making plans!

Congrats again! I can't help but smile for you. :)

Wow! Congratulations. I think it's normal to have mixed feelings about this. I am pressed to do this surgery right now because in 1-2 years time I do want to start a family and want to be as healthy as I can be. I think it would a difficult transition as far as mind set goes, because we spend so much time preparing for this one single day that will change our lives. However, finding out your pregnant does the exact same thing, in a much more profound way. I say congratulations to you! :) Focus on your health during your pregnancy and that little baby growing inside you! When the time is right, you'll come back to this path again!

Holy cow congrats! I'm sure thay wasn't the plan right now but a baby is always a blessing!

Not sure what insurance you have but bcbs told me once your approved your approved. As long as the policy doesn't change your approval is good until you have the surgery.

Congrats! I'm sorry that your plans have changed, but consider yourself lucky. I desperately want another child and it's not possible for me to have one at this point in my life. It took my husband and I 18 months to get pregnant with our son - and honestly we just got lucky. I have PCOS, uterine polyps, I've had 3 chemical pregnancies, and now I'm no longer ovulating. My OB/GYN won't even help me with fertility until I lose weight - she's the one who suggested the surgery to me. She's the sweetest doctor in the world, so I know she would help me if she could. My husband and I have been trying for almost 2 years to have another one and now we have to wait even longer - if we're even able to have one at all. I know the timing is off for you, but it truly is a blessing and miracle to have a child. I think God wanted me to lose my weight before I have another baby - that's why I need this surgery. Maybe God needs you to have a baby before you lose the weight. :)

Thank you so much all of you for your positive words, each and.everyone of you have been very supportive.

I am trying to adjust with this new news. Hoping everything goes.smooth and I don't balloon up like my other two pregnancies. I am prone to gain 60-80 lbs during preggers.

May God bless.all you of and give you success and good health!

Amen

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
