ISleevedIt reacted to yazun82 in Sleeved 9/3Hello all! I was sleeved 9/3! Yay! Surgery went without complications! Praise the Lord! I know I am being impatient, but when I got home I weighed myself and was 10 pounds heavier! For those that have been in my shoes, how long before you start to notice a change? How long before the swelling goes down? I have been following the diet to the T and have been drinking my water. I am so excited to continue working on new me!

ISleevedIt got a reaction from Readyfourchg in What's Your Story? The One That Made You Take The Sleeve Leap...I've been approved by my insurance, but don't expect to be sleeved til early next year. Like you I'm tired of the yo-yoing. In the last year I lost 60 lbs just to gain it all back and then some. I never lost all the weight I needed to but now I need to lose about 90-100 lbs. Because all this happened in a short span of time, I feel embarrassed to go out walking like I was doing when I was losing the weight. I've been wishing for something that would reduce my food consumption before the sleeve or lapband was around, but then I was never heavy enough to qualify. I definitely do now since I have some health risks also. If my insurance wasn't going to cover the sleeve, I was going to go to Mexico to have the surgery. Luckily they do and I save myself lots of money.
I've heard many of the surgeons are great. I already had picked out Dr. Garcia if I had to go that route. Good luck with your journey...you'll probably be sleeved before I am.

ISleevedIt reacted to Eat That Frog in Telling PeopleI have only told a couple of people. A common theme I am reading on here is that people don't want to tell their parents. I haven't told my Mother because I know she will be negative and I don't want to strain our relationship. She will probably be upset when she finds out, but I have to do what is best for me and quuit worrying about everyone else.
Good luck!

ISleevedIt reacted to Catracks in Skin! Does It Shrink?I have loose skin on my upper arms, the bust, the inside of my upper thighs and on the lower abdomen bellow the navel.
The only thing really bothering me is the abdomen.
When I lost about 80 pounds 10 years ago I did not really have any lose skin. I added that back plus another 50 pounds and 10 years.
It all depends on your age, skin type, how fast you lose and several other factors. I look fine with clothes on. Naked - eh, not so much. A bra shapes the puppies, but I really can't wear short shorts -- nor should I at 47 Board shorts are fine for the beach. I don't wear spanx as I hate a lot of constricting clothes.
It's great that you have the muscle. You will have to continue to exercise and get all your Protein in to keep it. I know it's stressful to think of, but ask ANYONE here. They will tell you that the weight loss and great health trumps any lose skin.

ISleevedIt got a reaction from sleevemeup in Skin! Does It Shrink?I haven't been sleeved yet, but I have yo-yoed with my weight all my life. I can just say from experience that the skin does shrink back some and I've noticed the older I get and the more weight I lose, the slower the skin goes back and then not all the way. Now, I need to lose at least 90 lbs..so close to where you are. I'm 49 and last year I lost 60 pounds and my skin did not hang lose too much. I think it's because of all the Protein I ate. I did walk from 1 - 2 hours a day about 5-6 times a week. Since then, I've gained all the weight back and then some within a years time This is why I'm looking forward to getting sleeved so that it will be easier to lose the weight and to maintain it since I will have a physical barrier (smaller stomach)...I won't be able to pig out as I can now...hehehe
I guess there is always spanx or plastic surgery to help with any lose skin, but my understanding is that you should give it a year to a year and a half once you lose all the weight to see how much loose skin you may have.....Good luck!

ISleevedIt got a reaction from PdxMan in Korean FoodI don't think the doctor can give you a "yes" or "no" answer. Each individual is different. I've read where some people can no longer tolerate certain foods and others that can eat as they please as kimmy*custis can.
I hope you can have your bulgogi....shoot for that matter I hope I can have it after I get sleeved....love bulgogi!

ISleevedIt got a reaction from jaymzee in Share Your Tummy Tuck Journey..I have Kaiser insurance and there is a statement that says "Removal of skin folds resulting from weight loss surgery is not covered by your insurance".
I'm just going on my second month of a 6 month program so who knows, by the time I lose the weight, their policy may change.....keeping fingers crossed, but not holding my breath.

I've just posted my TOP TEN complaints (annoyances really) about the sleeve, just curious what everyone else's is. My list is on my Sunday blog that I just posted today. (Just click on the link to read them).
Hope every one is having a great week and I'll be curious to know what other people think. Most of the time, we just hear I LOVE MY SLEEVE, but there are those few things.....

ISleevedIt reacted to CoolBreeze in Bummed At People's ReactionsThis is why I am so glad I found this site. I tried to talk, text, email family members who chose not to respond or give encourgement/support. Each time I did the communicating thing I get no communication back so I STOP! When I got Sleeved, I had 3 people in my corner and I felt great...no negativity, no judgemental crap, just support, encourgement and blessings. Do for you, no one else because you have to be the first one to look in the mirror and see you. Do you. I have a great support system here at VST and from those close enough to me to know whats what. Those who want to know should've been when first invited. I had a love affair with food that I ended on June 26, 2012 and I do not regret it. On that day, I told food -- YOU WILL NOT DEFEAT ME!!!
Starting weight: 289
Surgery weight: 267
Goal weight: 161
Weight as of today (8.23.12) 228
I would say I am winning this battle, not food. GO FORWARD.

ISleevedIt got a reaction from caroless in No Vsg In Mexico For Me Because....Kaiser has approved me for the Weight Loss Program! Now my VSG journey is official. So far, I've had my first nutrition class and had the Weight Loss Control class and I'm scheduled for my first individual appointment with the nutritionist the beginning of Sept.
If all goes well, then I hope to get sleeved in Jan/Feb timeframe.....I hope to lose a lot of my weight (need to lose approx. 86 lbs) before I turn 50 in July.
Yayyyyy!

ISleevedIt got a reaction from SophieJaneB in I'm Sleeved! Just Home From Hospital. Thanks for sharing your story....I'm hoping I will qualify for the sleeve. I see the nutritionist in 2 weeks....If Kaiser doesn't pay for it, then I will go outside of Kaiser and have it done. I am tired of yo-yoing with my weight. I can't believe I took off 60 pounds and gained it all back in 6 months time. I'm hoping the sleeve will be just the tool I need to help control my binge eating.
