Feel awkward being called skinny

Recommended Posts

I've lost 42lbs in a short period of time and everyone is calling me 'skinny girl' lately. The guys i date, people at work, and my family. I kinda just smile and say thanks bc i dont know how to react. I always get called beautiful but never skinny. It's so awkward to hear. it makes me uncomfortable. I felt more comfortable at an Xxl then a large. Anyone else feel uncomfortable with their new body?

People have used that word with me and it makes me feel weird and I don't know what to say. I know I am not "skinny" by any means. I saw a friend at the store the other day who I had not seen in about a year. She literally stopped in her tracks and her mouth fell open. She could not believe it was me. It made me wonder how much I had really changed and how bad I must have looked. It is a lot to think about and work through. I love all the compliments but they do take some adjustments too.

Same here especially since I'm far from skinny! I've lost 63 pounds but still have at least 80 to go! I'm also having major body image issues. I still see myself as almost 300 pounds. I feel myself smaller but don't see it. Weird.

I have had anxiety over compliments, and have had counseling for the issues. When ever I got a compliments, I would get shy, and say "No, i'm not ______." The more I did that, the more argumentative I became. For me, it was all self-esteem issues related.

I was told to just smile sweetly, and say, "Thank you." Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else. After a while, a few times, it became very easy to do, and the thank you was truly sincere.

try it! :)

My family and friends also say it to me and it kinda idk... "Pisses me off" because yea I've lost 65lbs but I have huge issues with all this. I look in the mirror and see something totally different than what other people see. I don't like people saying things that I'm not I guess. Idk

I am the same way! I'm down 75 so far and everyone is like ohh ur at goal now right!? I still weight 165 at 5'1" I still want to lose 35-40 more lbs! Everyday at work I get look how skinny you are or your so tiny now! I'm over it because I don't feel tiny! I feel like a cow! Even my best friend said I was the skinniest girl in our group and I just don't see it.

I "forget" that I've lost a lot of weight and sometimes it surprises me when I see myself in the mirror (or a reflection). My mind totally needs to come to terms with the fact that my body looks totally different.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
