I haven't lost any weight since mid December and I'm getting nervous. Grant it I haven't been exercising, so I went back to the gym. But I'm afraid I've gone through all this only to lose 36 pounds. I started at 224 and I am currently 187. My goal weight is 146. It's been 7 1/2 months and I haven't been told I have other issues to contend with. So, my question to all of you is will I ever see additional weight loss? I haven't lost any inches either.....ugh! So frustrated.

I am 5'7" and when I got to the 185 range, I stalled for several months. I did start losing again, and I am now down into the low 170s. I sometimes still stall, but as long as I keep on track, the weight eventually comes off.

I had my surgery August 2011, and I am trying to reach 155.

It does get harder to lose the closer you get to goal.

Linda

Sounds like something your doing is wrong babe. Relook at your situation and revamp it to work for you. I hate to be the carb nazi but when all else fails cut the carbs and it will fall. I use carbs to maintain. I promise ;)

I'm willing to do that but it seems everything had carbs. How do you do it and how much is too much?

I do it by eating alot of supreme Protein bars and strictly Protein shakes or meats like spaghetti meatballs with no spaghetti lol. For me I notice that anything over 160 grams carbs I maintain. At 100 grams I lose. It also depends on your exercise routines on the allowances. I dont do cardio because of my unique situation working on a boat with limited space.

Hope it helps.

Theres also cookbook sites like linda lo carb meals and others as such. Goodluck and at the lower body weight ranges the weight comes off slow

Navy man? Gonna try that. I'm glad to hear about the carb numbers, because I thought I had to easy lead than 40

Merchant Mariner Ship captain. But also had to be sworn in to the USCG aux for the draft unfortunately.

40 grams is to be in ketosis. You dont really need to be in ketosis. Just low carb works. Like I said anything over 150 pretty much stops my loss.

I eat over 1200cal a day now if I eat 3 prot bars. But those 3 bars only total 36grams of carbs. But I do drink a Vitamin Water or punch also with some Vitamins in it.

Good luck and you can do it. My stomach still works for sure and I am over a year out. Stretching stomach? Nah thats a myth. Why so? Because they figure out which foods they can handle easier and stick to that which allows more intake which causes stability. Think about that and you will notice it in your diet.

I notice it in mine. Taco salad shells, hawaiian punch. When I switch back to losing I simply just stop both of those and it starts back losing again.

Capt Derel knows his stuff! Great advise given, as usual!

Seelessofme,

You haven't stopped yet! And, yea, it does get harder the nearer to goal you get.

You've been given some really good advise here, the low carb approach is a great way forward - if you can, cut out breads, grains, flour based and processed foods and enjoy fresh home cooked food; good meats, veggies, eggs and so on.

Try to take a break from the scales- yeah! I know, easier said than done- and just keep on keeping on!

Good luck, let us know who you're doing!

And if you are not absolutely tracking every morsel that goes into your mouth, start now. It is so easy to let intake get out of control, totally unnoticed, if you don't track. And measure your portions.

You know how to do this. Just start over with the basics.

Fitday is what I use to use but I know everything and all the portions now. But I do check it every now and then when I dont have a clue about certain things on a menu at a restaurant. It helps give me an average

A huge hug to you ALL!!! You have made me feel so much better. I don't think I'm close to goal as I haven't let as much as I'd like but I'm going to try going back to basics. I do have a question, what is your take on fruit? Blueberries, blackberries, grapes...those types of things?

Hang in there, this is great advice on the carbs and tracking. I am 6 months out down 60lbs with 25 lbs more to go. I found that the last few months it has slowed way down. I track every bite in myfitnesspal and my doctor says to keep my carbs under 100, but I tend to stay around 50. Since I always do Protein first I really don't have room for the carbs other than those in a bit of fruit. I know if I am patient and just keep on track with my Protein and fluids it will happen!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
