1 year ago today my band was removed due to erosion

Recommended Posts

It has been 1 year today since my band was removed due to erosion. I am happy to say that after one year of being bandless I have maintained my 100+ lb weight loss. I still fit in my size 10-12's . It has been a struggle I can not lie but I am determined to never go back to where I was before my band. My band did it's job.It The rest is now up to me. My head is going in the right dierection. I was fortunate to have such great success with my band . This board has given me wonderful support throughout my entire banded and unbanded journey. I am trying to still lose a few more pounds but if I dont I am happy as long as the scale is not going in the wrong direction. My PCP told me that if I can keep my weight off for an entire year my success rate of keeping it off for good is high. Iam very proud of myself. Thanks everyone for all of your support!

I think that is a major accomplishment. It teaches us that you learned positive behavior modification while having the band and now that it is gone you've stuck to those modifications. You give us all hope that we too can learn to live with the band, and without it if we must.

Thanks for staying in touch with all of us. Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair and you have handled it gracefully.

You are really incredible! You've beaten all the odds and the depressing statistics about keeping weight off and having done so for so long, that's really amazing.

That's so good to hear. You wonder if something happens to your band what you will do. My mom is very supportive but really worried. She said that maybe after a few years with the band and after getting the weight off and learning to eat less and have better habits that I could have it removed. I was thinking, "no way," because I have heard that the weight will come back on. I have no intention of EVER removing my band as long as it's working and in good shape but now after your post I feel better knowing that in the event something did go wrong I could have it removed and still keep the weight off - if i work hard! But, by then i'm sure they will have invented that magic pill that helps you lose weight while you sleep!!

LaMadam, thank you for this thread. You are doing remarkable. I was wondering how things could be for those of us who have band removal. Its good to hear there is hope out there in the conventional way past lapband.

That's so wonderful to hear. You are an inspiration. Anyone that can maintain a 100lb loss...especially after a band removal....is (in my book) incredible and admirable.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
