To diet pill or not to diet pill....

Recommended Posts

So I am 7 months post op and I am down 50 pounds give or take a pound. I have 15 more till I hit goal. I will admit, lately I have eaten alot of junk, if everyone at work would bring in fruit instead of cupcakes I would be alot better off. So I still have a bottle of phentermine from my Dr, I know if I take it, I can jump start some weight loss. Has anyone taken any kind of diet pill since getting sleeved?

I was going to say somewhat similar to the previous advice. You have a built-in "diet pill". Taking an actual diet pill makes no sense.

I think the two ladies above really nailed it. You have what you need just use it the way its intended. We have weekly meetings with pizza and pop and all that great crap but I just know its not worth it to get a slice. When people bring in those cupcakes and stuff just say no. If I eat something like that I feel like I dumped my money down the drain.

Also if your profile picture is a current picture, it looks like you are doing very well and are a very lovely woman so just keep it up and keep your eye on the end goal.

If the diet pill worked so well in the past, then why did you need the surgery? Diet pills don't work and there is always bound to be weight gain after stopping them. You know what you have to do to get the weight moving again in the right direction. Eat Protein first, drink lots of Water, moderate exercise, etc. Maybe start tracking your food intake again. Don't waste your time with diet pills. My sister took those pills and lost 50 pounds and guess what? she gained it all back and then some. My friend was taking another diet pill and now has heart problems from years of using them. She lost a lot of weight while taking them but guess what? Now she's gained back all the weight and then some. She's heavier than ever now. Diet pills don't work, hell if they did I wouldn't of needed weight loss surgery.

I have a friend that takes Adipex... She takes it for 3 months, she loses weight and looks good but then after she stops she gains the weight back after a couple of months then starts the cycle all over again...

I would say 'NO' to diet pills. They can be dangerous sleeved or not. You have this amazing tool to use. It sounds like you go into old habits and forgot about the end goal.

I would personally bring 'sleeve friendly' treat foods so you don't feel deprived while your coworkers are having cupcakes etc. Always have a little stash of something so you can join in without going off track!

Good luck! :-)

You have so great- amp it up and you will be at your goal in no time at all!

Sheena :-)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
