January sleevers......what's your weight loss so far?

Recommended Posts

I will be 6 mos out on the 9th and am sitting at 172lbs. In my head I know that number is high but honestly I don't think I would be unhappy if I didn't lose any more. I feel great. I'm wearing a 10/12 pants. I can't imagine what I will look like after losing another 27lbs to reach the top of my normal range. I'm 47 yrs old and have had 5 children. I guess I just never pictured myself looking stick thin which I think now, that would be about how I end up. Am I weird? Does anybody else have like concerns?

I feel the same. I'm at 171 right now and have never been below a size 8/10. Right now I wear a 12 and I'm only a little over 5 months out. I would be happy even if I don't lose another pound, but my goal is to get back to a size 8. Anything below that is uncharted territory and a little scary! I've always felt I look better with a little curves - I don't want to be unhealthy looking!

Uncharted territory is more than a little scary, it's terrifying. I'm 19 lbs. below my personal goal, 9 below my doc's, and well within the range of "normal" BMI. I'm wearing a 16 1/2 neck dress shirt, which I've never fit into as an adult, and a 38 waist, which is like high school era for me (I'm 42). I would be perfectly happy to not lose another pound, but it keeps coming off (I get no sympathy for that, I understand). I'm at 1,200-1,500 net calories a day, and trying to find the sweet spot.

Am getting plenty of comments like, "OK, don't lose any more weight." And I agree!

That's funny though huh? Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it. I don't think it's going to be a problem for me to keep losing. As it is, all I have to do is add a few carbs back in and I will gain a pound back. It's more going to be a balancing act to make sure I don't gain again. Is your doc concerned about your continued weight loss? I see my doc for the first time this Friday for my 6 mo follow up (this is the internist who now follows us instead of the surgeon) and I assume she will finally give me a goal weight. I haven't gotten one as of yet. Anxious to hear what she has to say.

My dad is in his 50's and went through the same thing! He went from 48 pants to a 36. He was concerned because he hit his goal of 220 and the weight just kept moving. He's now over a year and a half out now and stabled out around 195 and has been within a couple lbs of that for the past few months. So eventually, the body does adjust :)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
