I am in my first stall. I will be at three weeks tomorrow. The first two weeks I lost 18 pounds but since day 15, nothing. So, I have no advice for getting out of the stall, but sure look forward to others answering.

Stalls are very common and even more frustrating. My Advice keep doing the right thing it will pass! I have tried a few things:

Lift calorie and fat for two days the drop it down again.

Increase Water and exercise

Eat smaller meals more often, like every two hours.

Decrease carbs to below 50

The dangerous thought pattern during a stall for me is no matter what I do I don't lose. That will lead to eatting bad and gaining. Some on here encouraged me that if I keeping doing right the stall will pass and after 4 weeks it did. From Jan 3rd to Feb 21st (last dr visit) have lost 16lbs. That is much slower than I want but after loosing nothing for the 4 weeks prior to that I will take it.

Day of surgery 277

Two weeks later 255

Two weeks more I went up to 261 (I did not over eat or eat anything bad. I was doing the same thing I had been during lost)

4 week STALL

Finally things begin to decrease and I see movement from 261 to 244( today's weight)

33 lbs at 3 months out. That is averaging 11lbs a month which is about right but not outstanding as some report losing much more. My PCP reminded me I had already made many lifestyle changes before surgery. My highest weight was 386. This means the reduced intake caused by the sleeve was not as dramatic in me as it would be for some. I have also been taking off Metformin and a Fluid pill so that hampers weight loss while our bodies adjust.

My surgeon's favorite saying is it is a marathon not a race. I totally understand and know the feeling of a stall but the only way to be successful is to stay loyal to the rules and know eventually you will see those scales move even if it is so slow it defies logic they will move. I am going to have to read this post and remind my self all of this when I hit the next stall or get frustrated I am losing only 2 or 3 lbs a week eventhough I am working so hard! LOL !!

I really understand how it feels wish it were not a part of the journey but I have not talk to a single sleever who has not hit a stall.

This has been my stall month. I've had the worst luck with my non-sleeve related health this month and so I've been unable to eat and exercise like I want. I think, though, it's forced me to change my perspective on how I view my weight loss. Stalls are part of the process and I need to be okay with that. I've lost a lot since my surgery - 100 pounds. That averages out to about 25 pounds a month, which is, when I look back at it, kind of insane. But this month has been a struggle to do anything because of other issues and I've had to adapt that in to how I view both myself and the weight loss process. If I do what I'm supposed to, the weight will come off. The stall will eventually go away. It's cliche, but I think I finally do more than just lip service the marathon vs race thing.

I had my surgery on October 31. I have lost 75 pounds. The past two weeks I have not lost a single pound. I feel your pain. I have vowed that I will be a model patient and make sure I get all my Protein and Water which I constantly struggle with. I know it is key, but some days I just can't choke down a shake no matter what I try.

Here is to hoping our stalls break soon!!!

Hey there! Me too, stalled over the past 2-3 weeks. Was 200.5 then 199 then 201, then 198. Today, 199!!! My average loss since Oct. has been 10-13 lbs./mo. From 1/11 to 2/11 only 5 lbs. lost. But I have lost inches, my clothes are getting way too big all of a sudden! Kicked up my activity level and made sure to get all my Protein in today. Hopefully this is temporary!

I am 13 weeks out, and recently had a month long stall. I increased my Protein from 60 to between 80-100 grams, and increased my Water from 64 oz. to 72 oz. Didn't weigh myself. On the 9th day, I was down 10 pounds. The following week, I was down another 3 pounds.

I read a lot of threads where people said to increase protein and water, or to get more calories in for a while and then go back to your regular regimen. I chose to up the protein and water because I was /am afraid to add calories. All I can say is it broke my stall. Good luck.

Do you know how many of us would be really happy to be at 193 right now? Just sayin'. Look at the bright side even when you're frustrated. I know you've heard it a million times, but marathon, not race, yada yada. No idea if you went through the week 3 stall or not, but most of us did, which cuts a couple weeks out of the losing aspect post-surgery. I know that after surgery it took me a week to lose the Water weight I gained in the hospital. Then I stalled for two weeks around week 2/3. Low BMI sleevers also lose more slowly than us high BMI sleevers. How are you losing compared to others with a similar build/BMI/time frame?

My surgeon says I need more calories or I will tank my metabolism, I usually am under 800 he says I should be 1100-1200.

It must be the month for stalls. I also had surgery October 10, 2012. I was 268 day of surgery. I have been in a stall at 204 for the past 3 weeks. Drives me CRAZY. The good news is the stall does end and for me that was the good news of today. Weighed in this morning and I was 201!!!! Oh HAPPY day! Hang in there y'all it will pass.

I just came off a SIX week stall. Very frustrating. I finally have lost another 3 pounds, not much, but I'll take it.

The most difficult part about the stall was the emotional eating. I fooled myself into thinking, well if I'm not loosing, I may as well cheat on the diet. which I did on more occasions than once.

I finally got my act together, focuses on Protein and Water, and finally the stall broke.

Good luck and stay the course.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
