Please help! I am completely freaked out!

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve done on 10/22/12 and have steadily lost weight daily. I know, I know.....I'm not supposed to weigh daily but I have. Anyway, this last week I went from 205.5 to 206.5 and not 207.5 in a matter of 2 days. I know that I am not eating into any caloric danger zones, but I am scared. Is this where my weight loss is going to end?? I know a few people who have had this surgery and they say that they've stayed the same weight but never gained weight. One of them was talking about eating a Carl's Jr burger on FB yesterday. (which I would NEVER do, if I was going to eat like that then I wouldn't have put myself through the surgery). Any help or advice would be so very helpful. I want to continue losing and do whatever it takes. I have a protien shake in the am and small lunch and dinner as that's all I can intake. Please help!!!

Is there a chance that perhaps your period is coming up? I know I used to gain at least 5 pounds of Water weight from that darn thing. This week I gained about .6 pounds thanks to mine. (I had a procedure done so I only get it for less than a day now.) I waited a couple of days and then showed a loss.

If you started up any new exercise, that could also cause you to retain Water. (As well as eating foods high in sodium.)

Like you, I weigh myself every day which is a mistake. I can't stay off that stupid thing. If you weigh daily you must be prepared for ups and downs. I find that I have a range of about 3 lbs and as much as 5 lbs when I have my period. When I am a little up, I remind myself of my starting weight and commit anew to following the guidelines. When I am down, I Celebrate and commit anew to following the guidelines. That's because they work. Stalls will happen- work your sleeve and be proud cause it takes guts to change your life.

I start to gain a little if I haven't had a poop in a few days.

It's a stall, that's all. Consider yourself lucky this is your first one. You will have to get used to the fact they will happen. Stay on track, and try not weighing every day. I know that's hard, but believe me, it helps your sanity.

Best thing you can do is stop weighing every day, it will drive you insane. I weigh every Sunday morning before Breakfast. Your weight will fluctuate daily, so if you only do it once a week you won't be subjected to seeing that. Yes, you will have stalls and maybe even a few weight gains. Our bodies need time to stabilize along the journey. As long as you know you are eating correctly and doing all the things you should be, just keep doing them and your weight will eventually start downwards again. Be patient and kind to yourself. This isn't a race but a journey that changes our lives.

I almost never weigh myself :) it drives me crazy as well. How I look and how my clothes fit matter more to me than numbers.

Also: is your period coming up? I too gain before it.

I bounce. Meaning that I go up and down all the time. Can't stress out about it. Now. If it's more like 10 lbs, then you should take a serious look at things but a few pounds is nothing to worry about at this point.

U hear ya! Going through the same thing as you. Sleeved a week or 2 after you. I havent stalled yet (except for 10 days at the start) - down 65lbs and last week gained 3lbs and am stuck on that. Mid-cycle so period isn't coming up. So hard not being disheartened and thinking this is end of road huh! I have slacked on exercise and could do better with Water as well.

I weigh myself daily but I only count I as a loss or a gain on Thursdays. Daily fluctuations are normal.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
