Arrived bright and early at OCC. nice facility. Lots of waiting. Saw dentist, nutritionist, cardiologist and had my band x-rayed to make sure there werent complications. Now in my private room. It's 10:40 and got here at 7. So be prepared to wait!

Room is nice and comfortable. I think bathroom is down the hall. No idea where in the surgery queue I am but they are doing a heavy load today - 7. I was told they do 6 but today is 7. Nit overly thrilled about that. Haven't met the doc yet.

Surprisingly calm.

6:30 and still waiting I apparently am the very last surgery after everyone is exhausted for the previous 6 ops. Being a band conversion doesn't make me confident in this. The tone is not set well.

If I were in your shoes I'd strongly consider insisting on being done 1st thing in the morning with no additional cost to you. If I remember you drove so flights will be a nonissue, right?

4:24 and still waiting. My "calm" pill they gave me five hours ago has worn off. Now I'm just irritated. Mostly about the uncommunicated increase in patient load.

Ack! I don't blame you. You're almost there, though! Well, hopefully by now, you're long in recovery and feeling far calmer. I hope you relax with the good stuff and have a smooth night.

I like Amanda's idea. Although I guess they are doing this on a constant basis so they are probably pretty accustomed to long days in surgery. I would probably be concerned also.

So sorry to hear this - when I was at OCC I was the first one in. I had a complete melt down going into the OR. I can't imagine having to wait so long. I find it annoying that no one has popped in to give you at least a "hello and sorry you have to wait" update. However, I think when you meet Dr Ortiz and Martinez your mind will be at ease. They are both excellent doctors and it would be my guess that they will accomodate any request to postpone a day.

I'm pretty sure that I can foresee a meltdown in my near future as well! Lol

Oh no!!! I'm hoping no recent updates means you are either in surgery, or they gave you triple the calm down meds and you are out enjoying the loopies before surgery first thing tomorrow!

SoCal... I pray that ur doing ok. But you will be ok. And ur surgery will be successful!!

Wow I thought my wait was long... Doesn't beat SoCal's... I was there bright and early and didn't get taken back until 2:30 or so. Then they took a very long time to do the actual surgery... I was ok, felt bad for my husband who has Hospital-phobia and my 15 year old daughter who just thought she wanted to come sit with me for the surgery.

And I DID ask them if they took breaks and were able to get lunch etc. Last thing I wanted was for someone to rush my surgery because they were tired/hungry.
