Hi December Bandsters -

I'm back - thanks for the PM's. I had a couple of complications and ended up back in the hospital. I passed out. I think from not getting enough food in me. I went to the ER and they put me on an IV. I felt MUCH better after that. I have been very weak and very tired. Just fatigued. I was running around like crazy for Christmas, and not taking time to rest. My incisions were still covered, but hurting like crazy. I was still on the liquid vicodin. I finally took the bandages off and 3 of the incisions were infected. So I am on anti biotics now. The night before last I almost threw up and almost passed out. I called the surgeon's office and spoke to my PA, who fussed at me for not eating enough. I figure I'm getting about 240 calories per day, since I'm only getting in 3 of the products per day. It's been really trying for me recently.

We had a good Christmas, and my sister took my boy so I could rest for a few days. I've been sleeping and sleeping and doing absolutely nothing. I had no idea I'd be missed. I love you guys.

I actually ate last night for the first time. I felt like I was starving. I had some cottage cheese and 2 meatballs. I also had a slice of sweet potato pie. Then I laid down and took a nap. Even with eating that, I didn't take over 700 calories yesterday. That should jumpstart my metabolism since I'm going back on my products today.

I caught up on the reading, and don't even know where to begin, so I will just start as of now.

Welcome to all the new members! I'm glad to hear our veteran December bandsters are doing so successfully! I've lost 30 pounds total, 11 since surgery.

I'll be around ladies!

Nathalie

Thanks for the reply and support. I really needed it. My Family is so so on support. More concerned with numbers. Very frustrating. Ok SO since my last post and all of your great inspiring responses I have lost 2 lbs, but that took alot of work. I feel like I'm just on a diet, and I hate to use that word because it seems to set me up for failure, but I'm staying positive. It also doesn't help that my whole family is sick including me. So I guess we will be quarantined for the new year. Oh Well, looking forward to some sleep. Happy New year to all of you and may the New year bring you health, happiness and good fortune and don't forget good weight loss.

(((((((NATHALIE))))))))))

I was so afraid something was wrong. I am glad to have you back and I hope youa re taking care of yourself. I am sorry to hear you had such a trying time these last couple of weeks. I know it must be so hard to go through this and be a single mom...Try to take the time you need for yourself. I am so glad your sister is there to help you out with your little man. If I were closer to you, I would be over in a heartbeat.

Glad to see you were able to eat something. How are your incisions looking now? I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is the end of any complications we will see on this thread. I am just glad to see that you are better and believe me, you were missed!!!!!!

Hello Bandfriends!

Happy New Year! Does anyone have plans tonight? I am not doing anything. Kind of a bummer but I cannot do another party. I am so tired of the food situation. I had Christmas with my Dad yesterday and there was soooo much food. He bought a 100 dollar beef tenderloin that looked to die for. I know, I know--it is not worth it and my scale moving down is somuch better than beef, but itis depressing nonetheless. As it was, I had to be sneaky so that it would not beobvious that I was not eating..since they do not know. Hubby was great, I made aplate of things I knew he would eat and then he ate off my plate. How silly to have to be sneaky like that.

Anywho-welcome back from surgery to BlackButterfly and Stace. Hang in there, these first few days can be tough but they go by quickly.

NN32-hope you are feeling better soon. We were all sick last week and hubby is still sick. 'tis the season, huh? Take care and have some soup!

Steph-laughing my butt off about the high jeans. I know what you mean, but I swear, once you get used to the lower jeans (not super low, just mid-low rise) you will not miss the up over the belly jeans. I don't know how the girls do those super low jeans but I do like them buttoned under my belly button. It does stink though if your shirt isn't long enough and every time you sit down people can see your undies. ;)

I have to run--phone call. Have a great New Year everyone.

Nat my love! I've missed you! I've been so worried and now I know why! I hope you take it easy - rest, relax, and recover! And EAT! you really do need food to lose weight - starving yourself is not the answer. Its just so good to hear from you - xoxoxoxo

Kay - We are going to friends for a party from about 7-9 then to my son's house to welcome in the new year, he just got married so this is their first New Year partay! I'm making buffalo chicken dip - way too many calories - and cherry cheesecake pie - way too many calories. I'll just take a bite of each and focus on something else.

I just read about pouch dilations - oww scarey! I especially am concerned because I never feel STUFFED - I think I eat about a cup at the most at a time - I wonder if I should cut back. I never feel sick but I do burp - not PB's just a bubble type burp. I hope I'm not one of those people who haven't got a strong gag reflex. I never throw up - its probably been years - even when preg. I only threw up once with each kid - I felt nauseated alot but not pukey - when the flu comes around it doesn't come up, it squirts out - if you know what I mean. Guess this will be a question for the doc next visit.

Going to watch a movie with my daughter - talk to you all later -

Nat - so good to hear from you again.

Hi y'all

I don't write much, but am reading your posts every day. So sorry to hear about your complications Nathalie, I hope you are feeling much better. I was wondering where you live in Michigan, I was born and raised there, and am now living in south Texas.

I am 11 days post op and have finally gotten rid of the shoulder pain!! Now I feel back to my normal self.

Wow Kay that tenderloin must have been hard to resist.... I really wanted to have steak before my surgery and never got to it, now all I dream about is a juicy piece of beef. I am so hungry for meat and vegetables. I did put brisket in the blender with beef broth, got the flavor..texture was STRANGE!!

I'm down 19 lbs since pre op diet. Clothes are fitting better, in fact I'm ready to get rid of my most comfortable "fat" pants...they are falling off.

Your posts are really motivating.... I really have no one to talk to about my band. It's good to have a group of people you know will understand what you are going through...no matter how strange it may be.

Nathalie, Sorry you had problems and SO glad you're doing better now!!!

Mel--I was banded 12-29 by Dr. Benavides. How are you feeling? Today I feel lke I have a golfball stuck in my chest, and I've tried antacids, gas medicine, and warm coffee to no avail. I think he's an excellent surgeon. He found a hiatal hernia and repaired that as well. I'm afraid to take pain pills for fear they will add to the feeling.

No plans for New Year this year. Happy New Year to everyone!!!

Thanks everyone! I am doing MUCH better, really I am. And I have put myself first. I don't go back to work until Wednesday, which is nice. A short week. ;)

Steph, I wasn't starving myself on purpose! HA! I've been trying to eat, but I'm not hungry AT. ALL. I didn't want to overstuff my little tummy. I'm on a liquid diet until Tuesday, per my surgeon. A busy human being really can't sustain her busy life on such meager intake, but I'm trying to follow my doctor's orders to the T. Each packet of Liquid Protein food is 70 - 100 calories. Most are around 80. So even eating all 4 packets per day, that's only 320 calories. I can't wait until Tuesday though. I am anxious to start eating again.

We're not doing much tonight. My sister and her kids (13 and 8) are coming over. We're making nachos (which I am not eating - I will tell her I'm nauseated from my anti-biotics) and will play board games. She said she is bringing a bottle of Moet. I won't have any though. I have been dedicated to my program, and I love the results I'm having.

I didn't tell my sister about my surgery - she is not supportive at all. So I told her I had an upper respiratory infection, thus the anti-biotics. I hate to lie, but in this case a lie is better than the truth. She would surely sabatoge my efforts, both with food and with her words.

I've had 2 products today, and will have a 3rd in about an hour or so. I don't know why I'm having such a hard time taking in fluids. I am having no pain, no trouble swallowing, just full all the time.

How are we doing with exercise? I was on my elliptical for 45 minutes today. I'm thinking of getting on again for 15 minutes just to make it an even hour. I don't know why I can't sit down and be still.

Happy early new year! I have to go finish cleaning before the terrible trio get here.

Later Gators!

Nathalie

P.S. Thanks so much for thinking of me. That really makes me feel good inside. I fmissed you all a lot, too.

Hey everybody,

Just wanted to log on and say Happy New Year (& new you) to everyone. Having a few closest friends over this evening and I told them to bring whatever they wanted to eat and drink that they wouldn't like my pureed peaches, apricots and plums...lol. Wish you ALL the very best for 2007!

Wanted to pass along a little nsv that happened today at church. Three different folks stopped me to say how "well" I looked...lol...Even our Interpreter for the hearing impaired stopped me...she started telling me how she had always been heavy and that she wanted to talk to me more about the lap band...I told her about this site and y'all...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
