Hi <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I was sleeved on Jan24 th so I am one month out .. I have had a few minor issues. Nothing big - nausea ' date=' stalls and being weak of the mind . I will never complain over something so minor after reading your posts . I truly have nothing to complain about . My son is 12 my girls are 9 and 7 . I am busy with them as well as work . The girls are into softball , gymnastics and cheer leading . My son is into lacrosse and football ( for now, they change their little minds often) . I have to keep them active so they dont have my weight issues. It's cold here( NJ) so its hard to keep these kids occupied in the winter. Im an RN and I work 3-4 times a week . But as moms we manage somehow .( I never said I was sane .... Hehe ) I hope you have a great weekend !

Sincerly,

Mary

Hey Mary,

Your going to change your family tree!! ???? I am going to as well!! Your kids sound very active!! That is so great and gives them healthy habits to embrace as they age. I also don't want my daughter to follow in my foot steps. I am learning about fitness and nutrition so I can make changes and teach my daughter.

Sweet rear you are busy!! Remember that song Seal sings? We're never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy?! I think it's true!! Don't you?!

Thank you for all the well wishes!!

Best,

Sannah

Oh my goodness!! Yes it's good news!! It's a bit overwhelming, because there are SO many options!! I have been stocking to what I know, rather than trying too much new stuff. I did have a piece string cheese. It was tasty!!!

:)

Hello' date='

I love your description of having a teenager!!! Sounds like you two have a great relationship though!!! dde04 How comforting that she tells you guys everything!! What's the trick? I hope my daughter can be this way one day. I am not a judgmental person so hopefully she'll learn this and be an open book!!

Yes, we are supposed to leave tomorrow. I wish we were flying, but the town his grandma love in doesn't have an airport in or near by. So we have to take the 5-7 hour drive. I have to stop every hour or two to walk. So it's going to be a long trip, especially with an active little one. I am a bit worries about it too, given that the hospital in the town is tiny. They don't even have an ultrasound machine!!!!

I hope your Saturday is great!!

Best,

Sannah[/quote']

Oh Sannah!!

That's a lot of driving!! Please think about what your husband said ( darn i hate when they are right) ! I would hate to see you go backwards...

I know you are feeling better because of the meds, but don't forget those are just masking the pain.. Yes I'm a worry wart :)

Does the doc think its ok ??

Yes about daughter keep talking and never judge..

Although making fun of them is ok sometimes :)

Sweet Sue,

How is your weekend going?

Your so kind!! I try to keep looking ahead because I know it's only going to get better and I can't wait!!! It's going to be GREAT!!!

I completely agree with you a positive attitude helps the healing process along. I do at times feel crumby, during these times I talk out the emotions and read the messages here on Vst. All these kind words do a lot for my soul.

My weekend is good considering all am I currently experiencing. I have a great support system. I am one very lucky person.

Best,

Sannah

My weekend is wonderful. I live in MN and it is SO cold. I am headed to Texas to visit a friend that moved there. I am so excited to have a little warm weather!!! I really had to dig to find some clothes for this week!!

So glad you have a great support system. That makes all the difference!!

Hello!

How's your evening going?

Alright, I shall heed your words of advice to keep the girl talking and keep judgement away. I can do this and practice often. :)

The doctor said I can go, but need to take aspirin daily and walk every hour to two. I am sure that I will be on pain meds for the trip. Everyone want to cancel everything on me. I know I feel miserable, but either I sit at home in misery or try to do something that may distract me from the pain. My husband won't go without me. I can't let him down again. Even though he keeps telling me we should cancel.

He hasn't seen his brother, sister-ln-law and nephew in over a year. His grandma is so old!!! If she passed and he didn't get to visit I would feel responsible.

We shall see.

Best,

Sannah

Sannah,

I understand your reasons for going. I would hate to be the reason for my husband canceling a family get together... That guilt thing gets me every time! If your doctor thinks it ok, well then I guess I will begrudgingly give you my "permission" :P

But if you feel even the slightest bit bad in the morning you better stay home!! Ok??

See now, I had to get all mother knows best on you!

My night has been a quite one. My husband and son went to bed and my daughter just came slinking downstairs.. Her favorite time to spend with me is MY quiet time! 0_o gotta love her!

Take care and please if you feel yucky in the morning think about staying home?

Laura

Hello' date='

Oh man!!! Did you have them at the same time too? The Dalaudid helps a lot and doesn't make me drugged up like Vicodin does. Are you feeling better now?

I don't know when I will have it out. I have been through a lot and I am not at all interested it getting it out. My husband wants me to get it out. The surgeon said if I wait I am at risk for infection and needing emergency surgery. I feel stick between a rock and a hard place.

How's your weekend going? We are having a good time considering all I am going through

Best,

Sannah[/quote']

I had my gallbladder out in 1990 after my youngest son was born and kidney stones about ten years ago. Painful episodic attacks for both and morphine for pain. My kidney stones passed I ordered a homeopathic remedy that worked! My gallstone attacks were HORRIBLE and glad the thing came out!

Lol!! You're funny. Glad you have the quiet time, sounds like your daughter wants to spend it with you. Is she mellow during your down time.

went on the trip and I am still here. It's been nice to see everyone. I have been pretty sick all the nausea turned into vomiting. :(. I am still using pain meds and anti nausea medicine. I talked to the do for today and I need to see a nephrologist to get help with my kidney stones. I hope I don't need surgery.

I hope your weeks is off to a good start. Tomorrows 6-7 hour drive home is going to be super long with the nausea, vomiting and V doesn't like to sleep in the car. I have to keep her happy and entertained.

Best,

Samnah

Hi Katie,

How are you doing?

My word. No fun!!! Everyone keeps telling me how great it will be once the gallbladder is out. I am not interested in surgery, but sounds like I have to have at least one for my gallbladder. Did your kidney stones pass on there own? Or did you need them to be broken down? What homeopathic remedy did you use? See a naturopath?

Best,

Sannah

I used Uriflow for kidney stones and had good results and I've heard Renavive is also effective. The remedy gave me incredible relief at a time my doctor was deciding what to do, mine were stealthy, hard to see, but I had every symptom and debris in my urine and sometimes blood. I was in agony at times, taking vicoden and morphine when in the ER (which was frequent). I never had to have surgery, my stones dissolved. Everyone is different though, I am not a doctor, and you have to take the advice of your specialists. I never regretted having my gallbladder out, that was the worst pain of my life...my kids were young and seeing me suffer, the day after removal, what a RELIEF. Never missed it, no side effects, just discomfort from the surgery, but recovered nicely.

Hi Sannah,

I knew you would go :) I would of stubbornly done the same thing....

You are probably on your way home about now.

I hope the car ride isn't to bad.

Venla doesn't sleep in the car! Bummer, my son still falls asleep in the car!

How was your husband grandmother? Was he happy to see her?

Did you stay at his family's house or a hotel? I couldn't imagine how horrible it must of been feeling that sick and not being in your own home and bed. I have a weird thing about staying at people's houses (even at my own mothers) so my husband has learned through the years that when we go visiting relatives there will be a hotel involved :)

Did the DR. Refer you to a nephrologist? Can you get in soon? I hope you don't need more surgery also... I will keep my fingers crossed.

Laura

I ended up getting pancreatitis when I didn't get my gall bladder out fast enough.

I really feel for you Sannah. I had a lot of pain with my kidney stone until I had the surgery. I just hope I don't form any more kidney stones. I was told to drink a lot of lemonaide to prevent kidney stones.

Katie,

Sounds like you had a pretty bad cycle with pain from stones. Glad you found relief. Every Week I get a massage and acupuncture. The gal has remedies as well, but she doesn't want me to have anything. I am so happy to hear you found relief!!! I am currently seeking western medicine for my gallbladder and kidneys.l

I hope your week is going smoothly!

Best,

Sannah

Hello Laura,

How's your week going? Any hikes? Are your kids in spring break soon? Any plans?

We got home tonight around 8:30pm.

My hubby and daughter had a great time. :) it was real nice to see!! :) I managed the best I could. None of his family know what kind of surgery I had. They just know I am sick. I was struggling with pain, nausea and vomiting a lot on the trip. I am so embarrassed we stopped at my mother in laws work to have lunch with her on our way home. I threw up at her work!! I made it to the rest room, but nonetheless!!!

His Grandma was so excited to see us, but especially V. The rude home was miserable, I was on medicine hoping to keep the vomiting at bay. Baby didn't sleep and needed entertainment. It was rough!!

I talked to the nephrologist today. They asked me to go to an ER!! I let them know that wasn't needed. I couldn't make it home I time to see them today like they wanted. So I am seeing the nephrologist Thursday am. Thursday is busy, I also see my her bariatric doctor and then my family doctor.

Best,

Sannah

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
